Is it annoying when someone always talks about their partner?

I would like to know, since I recognize I do talk a lot about my wife on here and IRL.

I was recently talking with a woman IRL and also showing her some pics and socials of my wife, and an awesome video she made of her making würstels, and she espressed she felt a bit weird to be alone with a guy who basically only talked about his wife, and moreover wasn't complaining about her like most guys do, but almost showed her off.

I apologized but she said she hopes some day she will marry someone who does like I do.

Nothing wrong with talking about your partner some and saying how much you enjoy them.

Think about how little you like to hear someone always complain about their spouse. Gauge how much you say great things about your wife with how annoyed you are with people who say crappy things about THEIR spouse.

Cut off your positive talk in the same time. It's wonderful that you DO say good things. But there are other subjects besides your great wife. People might see it as bragging or one upmanship. I know your joy is genuine. But some people are sour and negative.

Talking about something you've done together is another story. You went to Yellowstone, or NYC and saw a Broadway show and she loved it/you loved it, was a great experience. Couch what you say tied to other events.

I had a service tech for my washer constantly saying, "My wife this and my wife that.. to the point that I didn't know why she was "my wifeing" every fifth minute. I wasn't a personal friend and one mention of her wife was enough. I wondered if she was trying to make a point or find if I was accepting of her having a wife. I couldn't figure it out! I just wanted my washer checked!

So, couch what you say about your wife with who you're saying it to. If it's not a close, personal friend, I wouldn't go into detail. If the person ASKS you about your wife, that's a different story. If it's a friend who you always talk to about her, again, that's a different story.

Sounds like you're very in love, but everyone isn't interested. If you see people's eyes glazing over, change the subject, or don't bring it up at all. Caution is the better part of valor.

I like that when the conversation comes up and we share about our spouses…it’s good and healthy.
I have co workers who complain (disrespect) their spouses…it gets me mad. I pretty much stop having much conversations with them.

It doesn't really bother me to be honest they're happy so I'll just let em be happy and not make a scene about it. Or I'll subtly direct the conversation to a different topic.
