I left my ex because I wanted an open relationship and that’s not what he wanted so we ended the relationship because of that. He was pissed off and thought I was “toxic” because I wanted an open relationship and that’s not what he believes in. We were together for a few years and did everything together and he loved and cared about me. Does this make me look trashy now?

Relationship is personal choice and everyone could have their own preference of what kind of relationship they want to have. And it's totally fine. Nobody should be judging anyone because of their choices or their preferences.

And relationships can only be survived if both person is on same ground on same values.

You wanted open relationship and for him open relationship was a "bad thing". So you both were clearly not on the same ground, not having the same value. And so neither of you both could be happy like this. Staying in relationship means either you have to compromise with your own preference on what kind relationship you want or him compromising with his own values. In his perspective open relationship was a bad things so he would always be judging you for being in that kind relationship and you might not be happy for limiting yourself what you don't consider the need of doing. You both could not see it same way. Neither you both could understand each other's values and it's importance.

So it was the best decision and right decision.
