So after being in a two year relationship with toxic physically and verbally abusive women I’m starting to enter a place where my individual identity is starting to resurface and honestly for two years it always took a backseat
I experienced an identity crisis when I was 26. I got handed a really good job as a motor vehicle damage field adjuster/appraiser trainee.
I had to cut my hair and start wearing a suit.
Up until then, I was a surfer and rock musician. I had long hair, was super active, and partied like a Viking.
But when I cut my hair and wore a suit, I didn't recognize myself in the mirror. I also felt like an imposter in a suit and no longer fit in with the kind of people I used to hang out with.
So I was self conscious. Plus, for the first several years, the job was sedentary. And I got taken out for lunch to really good restaurants every day. I discovered good food and I had money So, over time I eventually gained 50 lbs. I didn't like myself. I didn't have a girlfriend because I didn't want the kind of girl who would want me.
When I was 34, I lost the weight and got back in good shape. By then, I was comfortable with my new, adult persona, and started dating. In many ways, the following years were the best of my life.
