Just because you and your ex didn’t work out , it doesn’t mean he hates you, it just means you 2 are probably better off not being together. It also depends on why you both broke up on the first place? I have dumped girls’ that I didn’t hate , I just didn’t feel a true connection with them anymore , I parted ways with them without any conflict , if I run into those girls’ again, out of the blue , I would still be nice to her if her and I ended on good terms. Because there is no hate coming from my side , if she hates me? That’s a different story lol

Asker+1 yIt was me that initiated the breakup, he said he didn’t want to but was divorced so there were mixed emotions coming up for him so I thought he’d be better working things out alone.

Well it still sounds like he doesn’t hate you for your decision, and understood your reasons for breaking up with him. Not everyone that breaks up , ends up hating each other. I stayed friends with a few of my exes , mainly because we ended on mutual terms , we both were mature about it and went our separate ways , yes it’s rare but I happens
Asker+1 yYeah I get that. So in conclusion you’re saying he’s just happy for me?
- +1 y
Yes , he is happy to see you smile , and happy you found someone that can make you smile , he realized he couldn’t keep you smiling , or you wouldn’t have dumped him. Most people get into relationships without looking at the big picture first , they are just infatuated with each other , but after some time one of them might realize this person isn’t who I thought they were , and realize they aren’t a good match for me. So they end the relationship so they can find someone that matches them. Yes it hurts to break up with someone but if you know you aren’t happy? Why stay with someone that really doesn’t make you happy? Your ex probably realized you weren’t happy being with him , so when you broke up with him , he accepted it and understood your reasons, he understood he wasn’t the guy for you , so he was happy seeing you find someone that makes you smile. Again it’s rare to experience that with an ex but not every ex is an asshole lol

+1 yCould be because we think you look happy in it. Could be because we think you're neurotic and if we DON'T like it that you'll try to read something into it about how we're bitter and we miss you and something, when really it's just a click on a screen. It "means" nothing to us because it costs us nothing to do.

Asker+1 yI wouldn’t expect him to like it, liking it surprised me. I unfollowed him so expected us to just get on with our own lives. He’s already with someone else.

well... i mean he clicked a button. I put more thought into which socks I'm going to wear for the day. Don't put a lot of meaning into it.
Asker+1 yThere’s a reason for everything although denial is favourable to some, hence the question.
- +1 y
That reason is sometimes just I'm sitting on the toilet and up'ing everything I see. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Could be multiple reasons;
1. He’s happy for you
2. It was an accident
3. He’s trying to get your attention
4. He knew you knew he’d see it and only liked it to seem like he didn’t care
5. He still cares but isn’t willing to break up a relationship40 Reply
Because he is not really your ex. If he was you would have moved on instead of hanging on and having contact with him.

Your ex hitting the like button on a photo of you and your new flame? Ooh, that's like dancing on the fine line between being friendly and diving into the deep sea of "I'm watching you" vibes! 🕺 There are a few reasons this could be happening: Maybe they're genuinely happy for you and are showcasing their support in the most millennial way possible – through social media love taps. Or, could it be a case of keeping tabs, sprinkled with a dash of jealousy? It's like watching a rom-com unfold but in real life. The important thing here is how it makes you feel and how it affects your current relationship dynamics. If it's causing more drama than an episode of "The Bachelor," it might be time to consider the privacy settings feature or a heart-to-heart chat with your ex. How’s that for some food for thought? 🍿11 Reply- +1 y

+1 yWas your breakup amicable? Maybe he's thinking of you and wishing that you are happy, and a picture would confirm that.

Asker+1 yI initiated it, he said he didn’t want to break up but accepted my decision. He moved on super quickly although still initiated brief contact here and there. We said we’d stay friends (sometimes it felt like he was trying to dig at me) but now he’s liked that post of me and my new boyfriend.
Depends on how you two broke up.
These are my guesses.
If you were the one who took initiative to break up, then probably your ex still has feelings for you, but is genuinely happy you found someone.
If your ex was the one that took the initiative breaking up, then your ex is really wishing you all the good well things in life and is happy that you're moving on.Without more information it's hard to tell.

Asker+1 yI broke it off, he said he didn’t want to but he was divorced and I felt like he perhaps needed some more time alone first to work through things. He just led straight into another relationship though and has initiated maintaining contact with me here and there ever since.
Asker+1 yThank you

+1 ySounds like a pretty healthy response to me... unless there's some additional weirdness going on. It sounds like he liked your photo because he's moved on from the relationship and is happy to see that you've done the same.

+1 yMaybe this is your ex's way of telling you that he wants you to be happy, and he's glad you've moved on.
Or maybe it's his way of saying, "Oh good, she's someone else's problem now."

Genuinely happy for you?
Wants to compare the new guy?
He's a closet cuck?

+1 yIt definitely means that he is still into you and thinks about you all the time. And, judging by how much time you’ve invested thinking about him, it sounds like he was the one who broke up with you and now you can try to win him back.

Asker+1 yWhy would it mean he’s still into me? I’d say it was a mutual breakup that I initiated. He’s also with someone else now.
- +1 y
It’s just what it usually means when someone likes a photo on Instagram. But now there’s all this information we’re uncovering about there being a mutual breakup and that he’s with someone else now. At first, it sounded like he was single and just hitting the like button recklessly.
He's happy that you are someone else's problem now.

Asker+1 yHe was the problem. Even he knew that lol.
