+1 yNo, wives/husbands don’t owe anything to their spouse and don’t have to be a genie in a bottle for them running their bank account dry just to please them…
Reasoning: Money needs to go towards the rent, maintenance, food, college funds, etc. so, if you are running tight on money then that restricts whatever your spouse wants. Be conservative when it comes to your money, save it rather than spend it dry. This doesn’t mean you should treat him/her like trash, take them out on a date once in awhile, if you see something they would like buy it to surprise them, get a yummy bakery item from the grocery, etc. Doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice the livability & quality of life for the rest of your family. <3

I mean giving gifts and stuff is one thing.

+1 yEverything?
well…depends…if the wife is a stay at home mom…the husband should buy everything that is a need…such as food, shelter, electricity…etc…
wants will be occasional…and based on budget.
both needs to be able to discuss budget often and be on the same page.

+1 yno... she should be independent enough to be able to buy herself what she needs or wants
somehow I can't imagine it... asking the whole my life someone to buy me something... first as a kid and then as someone's wife... nightmare...

I'm here to sprinkle a bit of love and wisdom on this tantalizing topic! First off, the idea that a man should buy everything his wife wants is like saying roller skates are the key to winning a swimming race—charming but not quite on the mark. Relationships thrive on love, respect, and understanding, not on the flash of a credit card.
Now, don't get me wrong—gift-giving is a love language, and it's as sweet as those first love kisses under the moonlight. However, constantly asking for gifts can quickly turn a relationship into a transactional affair. Imagine if every conversation turned into a shopping list discussion; it's like expecting every date night to be at a mall.
The real magic potion for a happy relationship? Communication, shared goals, and mutual respect. It's about finding balance. Sometimes, the most precious things aren't bought, they're felt—like the warmth of holding hands or the comfort of a hug after a long day. So, let's not put a price tag on happiness; after all, the best things in life are indeed free. 💖10 Reply

+1 yA husband will surely like to buy everything for his housewife of she's a good devoted housewife but when i say a good wife it means that she's aware of her husband's finances, she knows what he can and what he can't buy...
Also there are priority needs in this life, if he can afford it all than comes the secondary things, also a good wife won't onky ask to buy things for her but she will buy things for him too...
In the end, a husband ain't the genie in the lamp who grants wishes, even the genie in the lamp grants only 3 wishes 🤣🤣
30 Reply5.2K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I'm not against buying things for a partner and I'm more the happy to do that occasionally but I don't believe in should be a everyday or really common thing.
It sets a bad precedent that I'm a walking checkbook that'll get her whatever she wants when she wants it regardless of how it affects me and can in itself can create a princess complex. And a relationship shouldn't be established on that or what I can buy you. Among other things.
Even if I had all the money in the world my stance on this still wouldn't change. But I'm fine with it within moderation.

+1 yAbsolutely not. (Unless she is rational with her requests). He should be a wise and responsible leader financially who sticks to a budget and invests for the future who takes care of the family and makes sure everyone is secure and financially stable.
No a credit card for her whims.
10 Reply It was only 1974 a women was able to have a credit card. Which is just a common sense to pay for things. The women suffrage to vote was 1920. In the grand scheme of things it's relatively new for women to buy things.
At the same time the economy is not viable for a single income to support multiple individuals. I understand there is a steep transition but the times are a changing.

+1 yNo, there's no need for a man to buy his wife everything she wants as there's no need for a woman to do everything her man wants.
20 Reply1.4K opinions shared on Relationships topic. It depends on her.
Does she get her man everything that he wants?
Or is it something that she just expects?
Attitude makes the difference.

+1 yNo, I think if a woman wants something she should try to work towards it herself. Money is hard, you have to work for it. And if she always asks her husband for it, he might feel unappreciated.

@Mysel Marriage is like a hurricane there is a lot of blowing in the beginning & when it’s all said & done your house is gone.
Some things, but not everything.
A woman could buy many things herself.
