I think every relationship is different, I met my fiance when we were both in college but he was two years ahead of me, the following summer he graduated and got a good job and meanwhile I was always totally broke, he would offer me money sometimes which I accepted, and there were some other situations where he was aware I was trying to get money so he just gave me money, and pretty soon I got used to him giving me money and I would just ask for it.

But then eventually I also graduated and got a job and, that changed things also, we are pooling resources now so you could say we give each other money, although he still makes twice as much as I do so I guess he gives me more. Anyway it works out for us, we have never really had any stress or arguments about it. JMO!

man, this is a muddy one. I never kept a Tally on money i gave my wife while we were dating. Reason being is i never gave her anything that i could not afford to lose permanently, and i didn't want to have any kind of resentment. As to how long i waited to let her get money from me.. it was about a year, and i had already asked her to marry me.

Depends on the relationship but I guess whenever the relationship becomes serious. My husband got his first job and pretty much just let take over all the spending from then on because we already had a child together

So many of my "friends" when we were teens and early 20's ripped me off, so now I don't lend anything to anyone, unless the person lent to me first. Since most people are only around to use you not love you.
