Do you delete what could be considered private texts from friends?

I used to do it often when my older cell phones had smaller memory storages that cellular texts with shared photos & videos would fill up.
Now, with a terabyte of storage capacity, I only delete old, irrelevant & useless messages.
I think they delete automatically from my settings? Not sure, but I have nothing to hide anways. Unless the guy finds pictures, videos, before I got with him. Then, hey! Welcome to info before you. See how secure he is.
Deleting friend's messages would imply I'd go through someone else's phone.. I have enough trouble trying to work my OWN phone, without wanting to delve through a labyrinth of someone else's
Sorry. Please ignore the above.. I read that back.. I'm tired and read it wrong.. No I still don't delete messages I receive. I also don't have passwords on there. My wife can read through my phone anytime she likes.. I have nothing to hide!
I delete junk and spam messages, and occasionally delete a non-longer-important message I sent to someone, but I don't make a habit of deleting messages to or from people I know.
I'm here to sprinkle some wisdom on your love life and help you navigate the rocky roads of relationships and communication. 😉 In your situation, deleting messages can often feel like you're trying to hide something, even if that's not the intention. It's not about the act itself but the trust and boundaries within the relationship. If nothing to hide translates to nothing wrong, then keeping messages shouldn't be an issue. However, respect for privacy and trust goes both ways. If someone feels the need to snoop, there might be deeper issues at play. So, while I tend to keep messages because they're part of my story and connections, the key here is to build a relationship where you both feel secure enough that the thought of deleting—or not—never crosses your mind. Let's aim for a level of trust where your phone could be an open book, but no one feels the need to read it except you. 📘💕

Not gonna find a girlfriend if you keep your ex around…
• I delete messages if people take hourssss to respond when they’re online on and off during that time.
• if I word something wrong but then retype it
I don't think people actually read the context of the question. I didn't have any ex around. I Didn't even realise I had the message still on there. I have friends like many people. Some of those are female. My now ex went through my phone and went back maybe years. I don't delete messages. Why should I? I've a smartphone where memory doesn't fill after 12 messages like they did decades ago.
I asked the question to see if other people did. That's all. Some people do others don't. There's no wrong or right answer but I'm not changing what I do because of the actions of one person who shouldn't have done what she did.
I have texts in my phone from 2017 still. I don't delete anything apparently.
I don't delete anything... I can't imagine why should I?
If I'm no longer talking to them, I will delete them and then block them.
No I never deleted anything n she shouldn't have gone through ur phone like tht
I delete messages to save data space so I don't have to always upgrade devices, that's expenses lol I don't wanna fork out for lol 🤑💰
Do messages really that up that much space? I understand pictures or video clips. But phones these days have a massive amount of memory
I'm pretty cheap man
I delete all text threads when the conversation ends, unless there are potentially binding exchanges of words that could be used legally.
No. Many things in my phone would get me in hot water but I’m the one who flirts, so if it gets me in trouble I deserve it.
Yes, I have never been someone to save anything whether it be photos, messages or anything else.
I do delete all messages everywhere, from everyone too, yes...
but to me, is more of an OCD thing... than a safety/privacy thing... lol
Do you write down every conversation you have face to face? I sure don't so why keep texts? I delete everything. Its just a text.
Sometimes. Not so much for content/privacy, but just to be neat at tidy. Now, who uses the hidden album function for photos on their phone?
Yeah…. Stuff gets old… no one has unlimited space to store everything.
Yes I delete Messages/Texts unless the have important information on my work phone. On my personal phone I clear All messages after I've read them, I never keep them.
I delete everything. I hate looking at old texts or open chats.
I don’t do it to hide anything. I am single l only do it for the sake of keeping my shit tidy.
yes, I delete messages and also my browser history. I have been doing this for years.
Why are u around an ex anyway? Why not just move on?
I didn't. Please see the context of the question. Or even the my response to this reply
Again, an ex cannot go through your phone unless you're around them
Well obviously she's an ex now.
I have it set to auto-delete after 30 days.
I don't delete any Convo except for spam.
I generally delete mine anyway.
