Lust vs love to a person, what is the difference?

For me lust basically means you want that person physically and don't care about long term. Your attraction only is physical. Many who show initial interest in a person do so with lust and confuse it with love as it soon fades.

Love means you want them in a more intimate way, you risk to be hurt emotionally if you let them in too soon without knowing them well it can take time and if you don't know their intentions you could be scared for life.

Lust is instant love takes time.

You could lust after another but be in love with someone else.

Ideally a long-term romantic relationship includes not just the emotional and spiritual connection (LOVE), but the intellectual and physical chemistry as well (LUST). True intimacy in a romantic relationship requires both.

You're right about lust being pretty much immediate (at least for a guy, who is very visually oriented). For a girl even lust takes a beat to build up based on what the guy's actions are. Observing a person's actions helps build that lustful intellectual appeal I mentioned and sensory perception (scent, touch, sight, sound, etc.) does the rest.

Lust, whether physical or intellectual, is often the gateway to the initial spark of interest. Intellectual lust is arguable the one that keeps a partner's interests longer since the physical ultimately changes or fades. Love is the deeper feeling that nourishes and uplifts a person, which is harder to get to because it involves more than just sensory perception. It requires trust, compassion and a whole range of emotional investment that many people are afraid to offer each other...

Does true love exist? Yes, I promise. I've seen it with my own eyes many a time, but the journey isn't all peachy and sweet. There can be some bumpy terrain to cross along the path to Mr/Ms Right.

Lust is Limerance, lust can last months and feels intense, almost more intense than real love, it’s the phase people do stupid things, takes risks, bad decisions etc becus they think it’s love, it’s almost addiction like. Well real love starts as limerance, and the feeling slowing transfers from excitement to comfort, it’s usually the part men feel the relationship has taking a turn for the worst as routine and regular feelings settle, attachment is forming but the excitement is wearing off. Real love isn’t exciting, real love takes months if not years, real love is comfort, familiarity, routine, knowing someone inside out, knowing them better than you know yourself. Real love lasts forever, real love feels less strong than lust, but lust wears off and love lasts a lifetime. Lust obsess over a person, makes you think about them 24/7, you feel a need to be close to them also, it makes you jealous and you get withdrawal without them. Love is free, love isn’t possessive, love is wanting the best for someone even if that’s not you, love can be done from a distance, love is putting their happiness before your own, love is easy and effortless.
