A lot of people are saying they wouldn't like it if someone just responded with an emoji so my question is if you say something funny, would you be annoyed if they responded with just "😂"?

It depends. Some people OVERUSE them so it’s a little exaggerated, but if you know what the person is like and don’t mind their usage then there shouldn’t be any problem.


What bugs me is when some chippy on here starts splitting hairs between the big smiling emoji and the bigger smiling emoji…. Come on…. Like grow up a little.

I like it. It shows personality and a sense of humor. Just make sure to use more words than emojis when talking to me

An occasional emoji is fine to see, it's even fun. But if that's the majority of the way they communicate, then that's going to make for a difficult relationship.

I honestly think a potential partner or a friend should use them since it’s a sign of relaxation and openness towards me in my eyes. The same goes with stickers and gifs.
But it shouldn’t be an excessive usage of them, since excess means only seek for attention or things like that.
I’m ok if a guy friend uses them, since I use them too with them.

I agree with @DizzyDesii as long as they are saying more in their text (s) than just a couple words and emojis then it's not unattractive. It can be playful and fun, especially if they put some thought to it.

I use the smile one a lot because then the person knows what I am saying is in a good way. 🙂

Plus I think it emphasizes what you are saying. If you're sad, happy, sick 🤢 just about anything ❤️☮️

But I think women sometimes see it as “effeminate” if a man does this too much. Guys have more patience for it and we just get annoyed but necessarily turned off.

No, it's not unattractive or childish. I always use emojis. If the guy wants to use them too, I'll let him. It's fun to use emojis. It does sometimes show how we feel and what emotion we are that moment. There's no such thing as "overusing" emojis.

Here is what made us choose the majority conclusion: Everyone in the modern age uses emojis to communicate and even I use them. It would be completely impossible to find a partner in the modern day who doesn’t send at least one emoji in their texts.

I don’t care who uses them. They were made for clearer communication, as text has no tone of voice and sometimes words to express your feelings can be difficult to find. Nothing childish about that.
