My (29f) and ex boyfriend (31m) dated when I was 22. We dated for 3 years, I was in medschool then and he was working really hard. ( I don't want to go into details but he's always been such a hard worker, he build himself up from literally nothing). Anyways we broke up, we had different priorities in life and it just wasn't the right time. Over the years we briefly kept in touch. I loved him, I truly whole heartedly loved him I think I always will. We've currently been talking more and more about the past, family and everything. He said he'd never been close to a woman as he was with me. I understand that. We talked about a lot of things, things that happened how it ended, why it ended. We've been through a lot together. But Life really took us in different directions. ( Literally different continents) . If we were to be together one of us would need to move. He told me "wherever life takes you in life I want the best for you regardless of that be with me or whatever you choose , I really want the best for you , you're the most genuine nicest person i know. I know how hard you worked for your school, I know your plans and dreams, I want you to get all you've ever wanted, I love you so much" ... I want to be with him. Id move back home in heartbeat, I don't know how to explain it but he just makes sense but it's scary I'm so scared , he is my biggest heart break and I don't think I can go through that again. So far no but I think with my most recent ex ir would be possible. She would have the obstacle of having left so to fully win back my trust she'd have to be able to explain why that won't happen a second time. But assuming she has no issue doing that and assuming we didn't grow apart in the meantime I expect is to get back to usual relatively quick.

Yeah its mostly to give that closure, would be a conversation about the things that lead up to it, whats different now on her end, what I can do better on my end and how we can best prevent it from happening again. We have always been excellent communicators and good at overcoming difficulties so we'd basically make sure we are on the same page to prevent a second breakup and then work towards rebuilding what we had. I'd assume from then on its back to usual pretty quick and our usual connection would then rebuild the weeks after. I don't assume that it will just feel the same as it used to overnight, we were on such a deep level most people can't even imagine and its been so long that I don't imagine that will be as intense as it was right away but it would be possible its hard to say. So either it would kick right back in, or it will take me a few days/weeks to truly fully fall in love with her again. But that its possible on my end if I let it happen I know for sure. But she'd have to reach out for that one, until then I keep my heart open to whoever fits me most and ill just see who crosses my path.
