In every relationship I get into I either end up with someone codependent or become codependent. How do I fix that?

I always choose clingy people or become clingy myself. I can’t help but want to be around and talk to the person I love all the time. I’m still very functional and productive but it’s only to avoid making the person think I’m clingy. How do I break this habit?
