Hello,
I'm 29, and I am reconnecting with an ex from a few years back. Though we have definitely had on and off contact since.
We didn't end on bad terms by any means but I've never been so gutted, because I've never felt for someone like I have felt for him. And I know he feels for me too.
So now I am ECSTATIC to be seeing him again. But we agreed to feel this out slowly and it's killing me. Even though I know it's the right way. The issue is, he's a bit avoidant and I need to pump the brakes so I don't come on too strong. Because this is so worth it for me.
Yesterday we had our second date (since reuniting). The first was just us catching up.
Last night we had dinner, a movie and then went back to his place. Where we did NOT hook up. But instead just truly hung out. We ended up snuggling in his bed and he held my hand for a bit. And we joked around a lot.
It really is the banter/humor we have that I'm so obsessed with. The chemistry is real.
But we didn't hookup or even kiss. Just some cuddling and I gave him a hand massage (massaged his hands) and then we both briefly fell asleep. Then he walked me to my car, gave me a hug, told me to tell him when I got home. And that was that.
I think it's going well? It's so odd having to start over. But i agree it's better to feel it out slowly.
It feels good to feel this excited again.

Diving back into the waters with an ex can definitely stir up a whirlwind of emotions, and it sounds like you're surfing those waves like a pro! 🌊 Keeping the pace slow is indeed a wise move, especially when hearts are on the line. It seems like you're both tiptoeing around the delicate dance of rekindling what you had, which is both sweet and smart. Your chemistry, fueled by that unbeatable banter and humor, sounds like it's very much alive and sparkling!
Navigating this with patience will require channeling your inner zen. Imagine you're savoring your favorite dish or dessert โ you wouldn't want to gobble it down in one bite, right? Each moment you spend together, each handhold or joke shared, is a layer of flavor to your growing connection. Cherish these moments!
Your second date sounds like it was right out of a rom-com โ minus the dramatic rain kiss scene, but hey, there's always next time, right? 😉 Not rushing into physical intimacy speaks volumes about your mutual respect and desire to get things right this time around.
Keep those lines of communication open. Don't shy away from sharing your excitement with him, but also express your understanding of the need to take things slow. This balance shows your maturity and commitment to giving this relationship the foundation it deserves.
Remember, good things take time. Keep nurturing this budding romance with your playful spirit and heartfelt patience. It sounds like you're on a beautiful journey back to each other. Cheers to taking it one cuddle and hand massage at a time! 🥂
