Would you be fine with your girlfriend/boyfriend doing this with someone else?
Is this cheating?
There is such a huge aversion to platonic physical intimacy in places like the United States that gestures like this turn into reasons to believe they’re romantically or sexually attracted to them. This is meaningless, ultimately, and the only reason it isn’t is because places like the US see physical intimacy of any kind as somehow leaning into a sexual relationship. I’m starting to think a lot of americans can no longer tell the difference between physical and sexual intimacy. With straight men, this is a given because their lives are incredibly lacking in intimacy of all kinds on average but it seems like straight women don’t know how to tell the difference just because their boyfriends don’t understand.
If this is a family member that is OK, or maybe a longtime family friend where there is no thought of any possible dating relationship, or maybe if he is a longtime friend who is gay. Basically if nobody including me or him could imagine that we’d end up dating it is OK. If I did this with my brother it would be OK.
But other than that, I would call it inappropriate but not cheating. JMO!
I would feel uncomfortable with it but it genuinely depends on the woman and her rapport with this man. At the end of the day if I am worried about someone cheating I wouldn’t be with her.
Let’s start with the intentions behind it if the intentions are romantic and/or sexual then it’s cheating emotionally at bare minimum if physical cheating hasn’t already taken place.
If it is her brother or her dad though unless it’s some Alabama type funny shenanigans going on then it’s innocent. If it’s just a friend and the feelings are platonic then again maybe it would make me uncomfortable and I would express how it made me feel to her. But it’s not cheating.
Jumping right into the fray, let's unwrap this scenario like a surprise gift - is resting your head on another taken guy's shoulder a no-fly zone in the relationship realm? Well, it really boils down to boundaries and trust between partners. If both parties are cool with it, understanding it as a platonic gesture, then it’s all good in the hood. But here's the juicy part: communication is king. If this kind of cozying-up sparks even a flicker of discomfort, it's time for a chat. Is it cheating? Not in the traditional sense, but if it's causing heartache, it's a red flag waving for attention. Remember, lovebirds, it’s all about keeping that trust strong and the communication lines wide open! 🔥👫

If I'm there, she should be resting her head on me, assuming she's tired. But if I'm not there and she's tired, it's not a problem.
Depends. For example when I was in my 20s a woman got into a car accident that freaked her out. I said it's okay and opened my arms. She hugged me. It was 100% innocent. So it all depends on the circumstances.
It's very easy to send the wrong signals or for someone to get the wrong idea tho. And in this age of sexual harassment claims and guys getting accused of sex crimes for saying 'hello'... I would advise guys to keep a 6 foot distance from any women they don't know very well.
Well its definitely not cheating but it would be appropriate for some while others would totally disagree to such a gesture...
For me its not a big deal coz i know how much my partner loves me n if he was with someone its not going to cause any problem for me n my relationship with him
Sure. It's just basic comfort and affection. It's not sexual, it's not inherently romantic. It's one person seeking contact with someone they know and trust
If he's not your family, its a bit much to do with a friend or stranger, unless you were crying or some shit
if this ruins a relationship... it was not worth a relationship in the first place... lol
It shows affection for someone who isn’t their partner. It is cheating
I would break up with someone for doing so
Sure it is very normal among friends.
And why should we even judge that, to begin with? LOL
Inappropriate I should've voted cheating. Total cheating ahahahahaha
That would bother me if it was my boyfriend. Though I guess if they were like best friends I could understand it.
She could just need a shoulder to cry on and it isn't always mine!
There’s a word for men who think like that… I’m pretty sure it’s CUCK
You spelled "confident, trusting, secure, empathetic and respectful" wrong...
I think its appropriate as long as the contact is very brief.
I am too insane to answer this question.
Not cheating though inappropriate.
it's not making out but not totally bad
They could be brther and sister.
This is completely ridiculous
Boundries are important.
There is nothing inappropriate about it
