What question should you NEVER ask your partner?

One of my generals rule for a happy relationship is to not ask questions that go too deep about exes (especially regarding experiences and the size of their würstels), trick questions (ie. Would you love me if I became a seaworm?) or questions you know you don't want to hear the answer to.

My wife too shares this rule, although once she did ask me a rather delicate questions about one of my exes - I didn't answer right away and she immediately took it back, saying she wouldn't have enjoyed any kind of answer.

We ask questions because we are curious, or because we're not sure of something. I don't think there is any question that shouldn't be asked, so long as the asker understands that the other person may decline to answer.

Never ask if you were the best at x. Confidently state you are instead. I don't argue against this kind of thing either unless they're just awful, like saying you're the best at taxes and can't do addition.

My ex was very honest and open about everything and there was nothing he ever said that ever shocked me. Even the stuff about his past and there were things in his past that could have changed my perception of him but it didn't because I'm an open person. Everyone is not the same. 🙂

What I meant were questions like "Would you love me if I lost all my money?"
Which to me it would depend, if she lost them through no fault of her own; or if she lost them to gambling, for example.

Never ask anything about their past. Constantly dwelling on the past can create resentment and hinder your relationship's growth, plus it achieves nothing in the long run.

I think it depens honestly - if you ask them to better understand something and be a better partner it can be beneficial. If you insist because you just want to know and make them uncomfortable, that's not good.

The past is hers / mine. I have no expectation of her knowing some intimate things but absolutely we need to discuss careers, credit rating, kids, if kids parenting goals, education, religion, names, affordability, household skills for repair or domestic skills.

In SHORT, a lot MUST be asked but her ex's, sex, etc is all her story and she'll share the chapters she wants... Or not.
