Both. I ghosted because the person was toxic, lack of chemistry and not being a good match for me as a friend and each time, it was kinder or safer than giving them a reason why I rejected them. I’ve had guys overreact when I’ve said no to the point where things got embarrassing.

@Christian_Cartier things aren’t always black and white. For instance, what’s kinder, to tell a guy with a moderate intellectual disability that my reason for rejecting him is that he’s not in any way my equal and I find him basic and boring because of the extent of his disability? Or better to let him think I’m the one with the problem?

and in the other case, to tell a guy I was seeing that I was revolted by his kiss and found him mediocre on every level, or let him think I had the problem?

I’m not afraid to tell people the truth. However, there are cases where it’s kinder not to tell the truth, when the truth hurts and it’s unnecessary. Even cruel.

I agree with this, but we were talking about ghosting people, not whether or not you should always tell the 100% the truth. The two are not the same thing.
