Yes my mother is the #1 woman in my life. I would imagine if your mother was absent then you would feel closer to a sister who raised you.

It generally works this way for men. A man's mother is the #1 woman in his life until he meets his wife. Then she becomes the #1 woman in the man's life.

And this is a BIG 🚩when a guy is dating women. If a woman EVER tries to compete with his mom he needs to kick her to the curb. Because a QUALITY woman does not view a man's mom as a threat. A good man loves and respects his mother and a good woman knows and respects that. And she doesn't consider his mom a threat because a quality woman knows if he chooses her as his life partner she is automatically #1 in his life.

In my experience, moms become fiercely competitive with spouses over their son’s affection and will interject at any opportunity that proves themselves superior to the spouse. I lost my mother last year. She was 93.

I took care of her for the last years of her life. In spite of my successful career, I consider taking care of my mother my greatest privilege and the greatest accomplishment of my life.

I never had a daughter. I suppose if I did it would be tough competition. But I loved my mother so deeply and miss her so much. There is no replacement for the one who gave birth to you and did her very best to make your life the best it can be. And that's what my mother did.

Until the 1970s... there were career women but our roles were administration, shop keeping, light entrepreneur like bakers, tailors etc, other jobs for women include nursing, house keeping etc. so by liberated women, having more career options
