Guys, was life more enjoyable when you were in a relationship with your girlfriend but not living together?

Did life get more enjoyable after moving in together? I think I regret letting my girlfriend talk me in to moving in with me. I really enjoyed my lifestyle before. The peace and the freedom. I've always done my own cooking and cleaning, so that didn't change.

We have less sex than we did before too. And we fight more than we did before. I'm not seeing the upside, but I feel like it's impossible to go back to the way things were. If this is common, then I'll just accept it for what it is. But if this is unusual, then I need to reconsider the entire relationship.

I know you said "guys" but I think my perspective matters too. I moved in with my boyfriend two years ago and pretty much everything about my life is better. It's nice to have someone to help with the work around the house and to take care of the stuff that I couldn't do or really didn't want to do. Plus, not sleeping alone and not having to plan for seeing each other. Things just flow naturally now. And financially speaking, everyone is better off when bills are split. Living alone is expensive. I never cared about "freedom." Which just sounds like sleeping around to me.

Nah, things got worse for my life when my girlfriend moved into my house. I do MORE cooking and cleaning than before, so even that claim about getting those kinds of benefits with cohabitation kind of fall flat for me. I genuinely can't think of an upside for me, personally. But the upside of making my girlfriend happy is pretty damn important to me. And it's okay to make some sacrifices for love. To a certain degree.

Yes, yes, probably, that's up to you, she could if she wants to. That's up to you to decide between you two. Or maybe come up with ways that the cohabitation benefits you. And talk to her about it. So, at minimum, it's a wash instead of a loss.
