So, yes. It takes a lot of courage to confront someone, especially over something we feel that we should be able to shrug off. But part of a strong partnership is honesty in the little things. When someone shows respect for the little areas where we hurt, it builds trust and confidence that they truly care. It's kind of like with kids; when they get hurt, it's usually not a big deal. But we take 30 seconds to acknowledge the hurt and give them the confidence that they can come to us with anything, and we will respond thoughtfully. It's not about the level of pain, it's about practicing how we are going to deal with pain in general, big and little. That's how I look at it, anyway. :)
