Having time to calm down is normal but not the silent treatment. There is a major difference at the end of the day. You can tell him it’s not working out.

I would write, that I need time for thinking and set up the time frame because it's fair if the other person knows what and when...

but if he wants to block you anyway, that it's great, you just saved yourself from bigger damage
