Have you ever forgotten a loved one's Birthday?

Yes and no. This year, a nephew’s birthday was on a Saturday… and for some reason, I was thinking the whole day that it was Friday, and I’d have to call him “tomorrow.” At about 9:45pm, I realized it WAS Saturday… and it was his birthday - everyone in the family goes to bed early, so I called and left a message on my sisters phone that I would call tomorrow because I got the days confused, but I didn’t really forget (totally). So I talked to him Sunday. I did remember, but got the day mixed up until it was a bit too late. This was the first time.


I missed a few years with my Aunt and a cousin, because my dad couldn’t remember when my Aunt was born (when he should have known or bothered to remember… And there was no good excuse why he never remembered even what season it was, but I digress.) Finally, I got the date from her, but she wouldn’t say the year). And he couldn’t even come up with a year (and he was the oldest, so he should have remembered), so I’m within a few years.


My cousins and I aren’t close, but one started making more of an effort in the last few years, so we’re on decent terms now. But, I had the wrong day because she gave the wrong day (to throw off Facebook). I assumed that was the day, because, again, her uncle (my dad) had no clue, but kept saying it was mid January (which coincidentally was what she claimed on social media). No, it’s the same month as my Aunt, so way off. So I missed it in 2023/2024 - sort of. Still sent a card, just a few months late (and I explained it when I found out what her real birthday was), so the next year (2024) I got it.


I had Dad, Mom’s and my sibs down cold, so I never forgot those. I rarely forget friend’s birthdays, if they tell me. They will probably at least get a call, if not a card/gift. I don’t think I’ve ever missed the date with anyone close.

Only my 2nd girlfriend's b-day because we were never together for it and hers was within 2 weeks of my dad's, my brother's my aunt's and one or two other people I knew so, I could never keep any of them straight. The 5th, the 8th, the 17th, the 18th, the 23rd... All the other girlfriend's have easy B-days to remember.
