Who should sit in the front seat?

My boyfriend, who I also live with every other week, picked me up outside my apartment the other day and in the front seat sat his teenage daughter, so I had to sit in the back seat.

There is an age difference between me and my boyfriend and this made me feel small and that I was not an equal adult. Very ridiculous perhaps but do I have the "right" to think that I should sit in the front seat as is his girlfriend and the other adult?

Does this happen all the time? I say out of respect for adults, not just cause you’re his girlfriend kids should always sit in the back. But at the same time you don’t want to build resentment between the two of them. Imagine if this happened to you growing up w your dad showing up w someone new. You’re older, you should be able to understand this lore then her. So maybe just talk to him. Listen to him. It may change overtime, but if you e only been w him a short time I don’t think you should go in there expecting him to give into everything you want. He has to try to maintain a good relationship w both of you. Who knows you two may breakup after a few months, but his daughter is resenting him still even though you’re no longer around.

We been a couple for a year and talk about moving in together and getting married, so I don't see a breakup in the near future
I obviously don't want to create a rift between him and his daughter (the reason I don't want to bring it up with him) this happens every time, it becomes a given that I take the back seat
