Who would you say is more rational in a given situation, men or women?
And who is more emotional?
Who would you say is more rational in a given situation, men or women?
And who is more emotional?
The question is unclear. Men feel all of the same emotions that women feel. We’re just not permitted to express ourselves the same way women do. Because of this, men behave more rationally while we might very well be coming completely undone inside. Similarly, women might appear to be coming undone, but aren’t because they are practiced at feeling all of their emotions and expressing themselves fully. This honestly makes it very difficult to tell a common moment from a complete breakdown in women. Fun fact: that’s why hysteria comes from the Greek word for womb.
I know the official stereotype is:
Men: Rational
Women: Emotional
But for me that's all just bullshit and depends on the specific person.
A lot of gender roles in general are stupid in the same way. Like for example women wearing dresses and men wearing pants is something completely made up by society, versus something actually biological like men normally being physically stronger and protecting the rest of the family while the women take care of and raise the young.
Surprising... men are more emotional in emergency situations and woman tend to separate themselves coming across as cold. Which I guess is a self preservation tactic, where men are trying to show support and calm. It forces the reverse of the norm I always found interesting.
I have never personally experienced this or seen other men behave in such fashion. I have seen nothing but professionalism and commitment to their duty transpire under “emergencies” as well as any form of extreme stress.
@MannMitAntworten how is either description taken as unprofessional"?
If one allows for their emotions to take over they stall and or flee. It even has a name, “The fight or flight response”.
@MannMitAntworten How is any of this relevant to my opinion?
Peace out man...
My point to your initial response is I never seen men be the ‘more’ emotional in an emergency. Both men and women alike as you described, “separate themselves” or with time become desensitized to emergencies. I wouldn’t call it cold. Just professional. No, actual cold is what most bystanders tend to be. I still recall in my youth happening upon an injured individual on the ground and people either walking around or literally stepping over this individual. I suppose the modern version of this would be people pulling out their phones to record instead.
Now if being pressed to pick the sex that tends to be the more emotional during an emergency …. Well, one Dad lost his shit seeing his daughter in her rolled car held upside down by her seatbelt. Compare that to the countless women I came across losing their shit over a variety of reasons. It is hard for me to remotely agree with your assertion that men are the more emotional ones.
Stoicism can manifest in both sexes. I just see it significantly more so in men than within women in emergencies is all. Again, these women do exist, just not to the degree I see it in men.
Circling back to the separating from one’s self as if seeming cold. Even here I have heard significantly more men branded as being cold, or icy, or robotic, or unfeeling over women by others. The only lone arena where I have known women to be labelled as such over men are women medical doctors. Especially among women ER and oncology doctors. This is the lone area where I have heard the cold, icy, robotic, or unfeeling label tossed around to a significant degree upon women. Definitely par for course in the emergency room arena where everything becomes very matter of fact.
I don’t like how this question is presented due to it insinuating that either men or women are less rational than the other. I would say it depends on the person and the situation for whomever is more rational. As far as emotional that applies to both genders too lol
If emotions ‘always’ prevailed under stressful situation human civilization would likely appear entirely different from what we know it as today.
Hey there! My aim here on Girls Ask Guys is to sprinkle a bit of relationship wisdom (and some fun) into your life. 😉 When it comes to rationality and emotions, it's not really a men vs. women thing. We're all capable of being rational or emotional, depending on the situation and individual personality. It's more about how people are socialized and personal experiences. Let's not box people in! After all, love isn't a one-size-fits-all kind of thing. 💕

Emotions are rational.
In both senses of the word.
1. Emotions are a 'ration' (portion) of feelings, the remainder of those being the physical senses.
2. Having emotions is 'logical', they protect you, and they give your life enjoyment, enjoying life is 'logical', it gives life a 'reason' to exist.
Whats bad is panic, overconfidence, and apathy, not emotions.
Panic leads to confusion, overconfidence leads to avoidable failures, and apathy leads to ignoring both danger and joy.
Both men and women are capable of being anywhere on the spectrum for how emotional, logical, panicked, calm, overconfident, confident, skeptical, sympathetic, empathetic, apathetic, miserable, happy, etc. they are.
Education, medical treatment, danger avoidance, hobbies, food, water, and sleep are all one can do to resolve anything leaning toward the problems.
To answer this question all you have to do is look the difference between how men and women vote.
Far more women vote for the candidate who employs theatric emotional appeals than men. Just like women get used by men in relationships they get used by politicians in politics. Women cannot seem to see past the emotional appeal regardless of how devious and deceptive it is.
Thus the Democrats use emotional manipulation because they know it will work with women no matter how irrational their platform. Women are easily fooled and it is the bane of our political system.
I believe this is why in many places and cultures women were not permitted to vote.
It has nothing to do with gender. Even scientific research generally does not support the idea that one gender is inherently or consistently more “rational” than the other.
Some of the most emotional I know are men, so go figure!
I put it like this:
Men are more rational in their emotions, and
women are more emotional in their rationality.
It's like... ermmm... two coins with the same side?
I'm a woman 👠👠💄 and I am more rational than emotional.
Depends on the woman and it depends on the man in question.
I’ll say that women have more emotional intelligence (doesn’t mean more emotional)
Probably the same capabilities of rationality as men if not more
Men are considered more rational but ngl I've met only 2 or 3 men who were really rational.
Most of the people I interacted with, let's say about 90%, including women too, were too emotional for me.
Men are emotional beings who appear rational from the outside.
Men and women are equally rational. Men grow up being taught to hide their emotions.
Men are more rational and women are more emotional.
Men tend to be more rational and women more emotional but you'll find men who are emotional and women who are more rational.
Typically in my own experiences men tend to be more rational and women more emotional.
Men must be rational to be successful, women typically make decisions based on emotion.
On average men are more rational and women more emotional but this is a average.
Men are more rational and do not go easily astray like women do. Why do you think feminism is created? Because it is easier to pull women in.
Depends on every individual, not on their gender.
it depends on the given individuals
