Would you ever date a lawyer?

Question

My father always said to date them but never marry one because they know how to screw you up the best (not in the nice way).

Plus she's the daughter of the family friend that helped me settle and get my house in the US, so I'm not sure my father would have been thrilled about it either.

But I like her, she's smart, went to Harward and has the looks too, so although I am not in the rush to get collared again she could be a good candidate for something long term, especially considering a possible semi or permanent move to the US.

This just depends on the lawyer all are different but it’s one of those professions that a lot of people want to date until they date one long hours and it can be emotionally taxing. Working criminal cases whether on the prosecution side or the defense side it carry’s a emotional weight on top of the mental stresses of the job.

Some lawyers are scummy but it seems like you know her well enough to know the way she is. If you get into a relationship date with the intentions of eventually finding a lasting relationship but at the same time take it slow. Don’t rush anything and see where it goes.

A lawyer can help you in a lot of situations as well. Any bad relationship can screw you but knowing someone before the relationship the bigger the risk the bigger the payout.

I'm a lawyer and I would strongly advise against it. It's a professional field that appeals to people who tend to be power hungry, controlling, vindictive and combative. At bare minimum, you don't get into this line of work unless being embroiled in conflict all day doesn't bother you (that's my deal; conflict just doesn't change the kind of day I'm having). The kinds of people who last in the field are the kinds who enjoy the conflict.

The sad reality is that lawyers have earned their vicious reputation.

No. I feel like they can easily mess with you or do something bad and get away with it bc they know the loopholes and manipulative words to say to get them out of trouble. That just makes me nervous.

I have hung out with women who are lawyers, but never dated one. I would mostly be inclined not to date one, however I don't want to lump them all into the same category so I would still be open to it. Years ago I knew a woman lawyer in the hiking group that I belonged to. She hinted that she was interested in dating me however I didn't pursue it. Nice lady and pretty good looking but very Type A. She tailgated people while driving to bully them into switching lanes to let her by. She talked above everyone at social get-togethers as if she was in court. Etc. She did have a nice side to her for sure but I couldn't get around the rest of it. LOL...

You're making problems for yourself from the start... asking this question You're already second guessing yourself... lawyers tend to be sharks and any blood in the water is fair game... but I'd say you already accepted this challenge subconsciously.
