Legal advantages: Inheritance and next of kin rights, health insurance and tax benefits, hospital visitation, medical decisions, Social security, retirement, etc. The problem isn’t marriage, it’s marrying badly, or marrying without alignment and self awareness. Most people who call marriage a scam were trying to build a lifelong partnership on chemistry and hope, not shared values or strategy.

I'd just like to add on, it makes visa application much easier if the partner is your spouse (dependency visa). Execution as well but that falls under inheritance I guess. Securing of child support and/or benefits is much more difficult for unmarried parents, even a birth certificate becomes a headache. As a man, being married helps in the case of a custody battle should things hit the fan. There's probably a lot more.

It’s a good idea if you and your partner are head over heels for each other , meaning the both of you are on the same page with a lot of things , if you aren’t on the same page with a lot of things , then you are best not to marry her ass because it will be a matter of time before the both of you resent each other and start hating each other , I made that mistake with marrying my ex , I overlooked the negatives between us thinking it’s not that big of a deal because we loved spending time together as much as possible , things with her and I were great for a long time but it slowly faded away because we didn’t agree on a lot of things , so my marriage turned to shit with her , if her and I had more in common and saw things eye to eye more we would probably still be together , so never settle for ok , settle for next to perfect instead.

Its really just a title to ward off others that may show interest. You dont or shouldn't act any different than if you were just dating. So id say its good if one or the other feels like it for the extra title of commitment
