I find outside my religious circle, a lot of people live together for a few years or months before getting married.

In my religious circle, some wait until marriage to live together because it is expected and recommended by our church and not following those rules, might lead to social marginalization or hidden negativity by the community.

And I am sure you also have those that follow the bible for religious reasons and not social propriety reasons.

I also know non religious individuals that wait until marriage to live together, because it is part of their social traditions to delay living together til marriage.

i’d say living together without being married is more popular. For me i’d say that’s the necessary step before getting married. Because i wouldn't marry someone who i haven't lived with
