Why do most people want a boring burdened life?

Having a spouse and kids eat up your finances, being tied down and burdened with responsibilities. Wouldn't life be a lot more enjoyable getting to have fun and travel whenever you want, etc?

In the end we can’t take any of that money with us, so why does it matter who people spend it on? If you were to write a list of everything and everyone you’ve ever spent money on in your 40+ years of life a guarantee there’d be a few boring and burdensome mentions but it’s your money and what you spent it on gave you fulfillment/happiness/etc at that time.

First, I think people should be able to live their lives in a way they think is fulfilling.

If you want kids and the whole 9 yards of marriage and family life then go for it cowboy.

If you want to give everything up and go be a monk then more power to you.

If you want to live a life without kids and/or a partner that's fine too. Just make sure you have some good friends and family to support you.

My family was and is the best part of life. I worked, and excelled in it which made for a comfortable life for me and the family. We travelled internationally extensively. I had a ball with the kids. I killed it and it was far from boring. I find most people don’t really push themselves and simply aren’t that smart when it comes to career and life decisions. So speak for yourself.
