Are you able to support that lifestyle now and if now why?
- 1.4K opinions shared on Relationships topic.
7 moDefinitely. I want to live adventurously. I want to live van life for a while (at least a few years and ideally with a partner). And I want then after I save up, I'd like to build my own off grid house and slowly transition to that and living off the land.
And no. I'm definitely not able to support that lifestyle yet.117 Reply- 7 mo
Living on the road completely changed me. I'm way happier but you should definitely try your best to have the best setup you can because your biggest enemy is having the electric to keep your engine turned off when you're not driving.
I'm thinking about buying a box truck and doing some pretty wild shit with that - 7 mo
I'm envious you've gotten to experience it man.
I've done extensive research on the build of the van. I've even roughly designed it to a floorplan in sketchup. I think I have most of the information I need to do it, but I don't have any experience obviously. I know the first time won't be perfect, but I look forward to the day I get to work on it and move forward with my life. - 7 mo
@Staximus You clearly haven't done any research into van builds. Your ignorance shows.
- 7 mo
@Staximus Listen genius. All you have to do is YouTube 'van build with shower" to realize what a retard you're being. I've literally researched van builds for years and you wanna act like you know everything about it because your brother had a shitty build and didn't invest much into it? Fuck outta here
- 7 mo
@Staximus Good for you. I'm okay with not having something as big as a motorhome. I plan on living off grid eventually anyways and have already planned that build as well.
Funny that you try stop others from doing what THEY want to do. It really is pathetic - 7 mo
@Staximus Anyone who reads this will realize just how retarded you are. Now fuck off clown.
- 7 mo
He's got a point, even if he's making it like an asshole. The van has such limited space it's hard to imagine how someone would feel like it's practical. Especially if you've seen one in person (I'm assuming. I've just used a lot of cans before and yea, they're tiny)
Personally I think you're best off with a box truck. If you have a lot of money or can build things then it's a billion times more practical - 7 mo
@Telekinetic-Potato Have neither of you seen or heard of cargo vans? Literally just go to YouTube and look through campervan builds. There's plenty of high ceiling van models that have enough space to let you stand. Would it kill y'all to use Google before making a comment?
- 7 mo
No I've seen them on YouTube, it's just that the vans with the high ceilings are just as expensive as a box truck. They tend to be less reliable too. You'd be looking at the dodge van or a Ford transit or the Mercedes sprinter for the most part.
You'd probably be better off getting a school bus.
I get they look really cool on YouTube but stand in a van and tell me that's where you want all that money to go. - 7 mo
Is all I'm trying to say. Just to not let the guys good point go mute because he's being a dildo
- 7 mo
@Telekinetic-Potato I plan on buying a used one and renovating it myself, which you can find much more affordable options for. It's my dream to have that and an off grid house that I build myself. That kind of life is much cheaper than buying a house or buying any new car nowadays. I've already done rough calculations for the cost and it's doable once I get myself off the floor.
- 7 mo
@Telekinetic-Potato Anyways, I get y'all think you're being realistic, but I've already looked into this significantly and am confident about the direction I'm taking. I don't feel the need to explain it further. I appreciate that at least you kept it more respectful.

We don’t live in absolute luxury but we have substantially more than we need. We live comfortably.10 Reply
7 mo@Telekinetic-Potato a couple of years ago before I was pushing 30, I often thought the best set up was someone works full time, the other works part time.
Otherwise where's the room in the relationship for work and for play. 😋😉

@Telekinetic-Potato what could've been. Ah well. So now I'm pushing past 30 and think "ah, it's a 20s thing fling" ; what could've been.
Still - I imagine what girlfriend or wife doesn't want to enjoy having spare money "for the relationship" - 7 mo

@Telekinetic-Potato indeed and if you think about it with a LOL as I often do - if two people work full time or all day into the night : when is there time for a relationship? Exactly 💯😅

@Telekinetic-Potato shrug 😂 no wonder they say it's a thing "enjoy your early 20s while they last - before responsibilities or your schedule piles up" 👀📈

I want a calm, stable, supportive kind of life , where we both grow, enjoy small routines, and still make space for fun and connection.

Estimated cost 100k+ a year. Hope you've got a great job or born into wealth.

@SixFootSexy that's a common excuse for not doing that 🤣. My parents do it on 70,000 a year and they had 3 kids after I moved out. The key is to live within your means and don't go somewhere you have to pay rent.
- 7 mo
Depends on the type of woman and location you choose. Some are much more expensive to keep than others.

@SixFootSexy I ain't getting an expensive one. That's not the kind I'm attracted to and it's not the king I'm gonna get
