Trending & News Let's think about why anyone would ask this question. You might be confused about your feelings to someone, or the results of a failed relationship left you depressed. Or maybe that guys just want to mutually master-debate.
The mating industry, well industry of all industries because sex is incorporated into all things sales, is based on purely the instinctual, biological. Let's assume we are all a step above that and you are interested in this occasional "spark" that doesn't really correlate with anything physical. There is a component of karma to that, but "karma" is so misunderstood that it's better to just describe the relationship of these "sparks" to the "divine" sort of "love".
And yes there is a differen e between love and romance.
This romance is a fertile breeding ground where real love has a chance of awakening. (Pun intended). The biggest difference being that acting even out of sympathy, pleasant compulsion, is still not entirely an act of free will.
Love is an act of giving immaterial gifts, and requires a personality and sense of self. Otherwise it's not "you" who is giving gifts. So love requires self control, ensuring that your instincts are metamorphosed into what benefits everyone, not just having fun at others' expense, nor entirely destroying yourself by irrational submission. Without self control you're only acting out your psychological impulses, which are entirely calculable and can be as abrupt as bowel movement. In other words, and especially if you insist that the real "you" is the body, your entire personality gets fully made up of biology and your relationships are actually relationships between your hormones and their hormones. Which you know isn't pretty, biology alone is quite cruel.
I am starting to think that the "personality matters" is actually an unconsciously developed mythology with much deeper meaning than simply "we want to live with non-boring people". Well obviously, even some boring people have romantic lives. But that's not what i meant.
You can get a relatively good analogy if you imagine that each time you act undisciplined, another station of your personality goes offline (or the reverse, we only build up the personality via deliberation. Everyone is born with freedom to become free, but nobody is automatically free as automation is the opposite of being free. Nobody is born with an apparent individuality.)
With the current science paradigm that rejects even the mere existence of human spirit and expects robots to become indistinguishable from us, everyone is destined toward spiritual death unless we ourselves intervene. Spiritual death is when they're literally correct: we become spiritless automatons. You might better relate to "depression" as an early symptom of this loss of will, and everyone already unconsciously acknowledges the conclusion of what i wrote above: that love is the cure for depression. But love is an act of free will. People are almost right when they call depression a "lack of will", except "will" is not synonymous with desire as many think, - but even in that case it's still true that the lack of desire is a smaller part of the problem. Desire is needed to strengthen the "I" by stimulating critical thinking and comparing the desire to our highest "will". Compare your intrusive thoughts to your highest idealistic ideals.
That's the real reason generous people are more fulfilled: it's not the generosity that helps them but the sincerity and real "will" in the generosity. And it's not the good deed that fixes your depression (although it benefits you in other ways) but getting in touch with your real self (and the freedom that comes with it).
This freedom is the difference between doing love and being stuck "in love". Or romance. I guess this means i believe in both of them. Romance finds you, but you have to find love. ㅤ
Yea but i have never found them for real, such as the one that lasts forever...
Yes, I have been living it for over 16 years.
