Right now we're in the chatbot phase, but realistic looking robots powered by advanced AGI will be coming sooner than most people expect, and that'll hit the world hard. People nowadays (especially the older folk) like to deny that AI will replace humans and think it'll be this way for a long time to come, some even thinking it will always be this way.

But AI is making things that were never possible with only humans, possible. AI has already developed technology that humans never could have on their own, because they can't process things anywhere nearly as quickly. It's made breakthroughs in health because it can analyze cellular structures thousands of times faster.

Once AGI is applied to robots that are capable of moving identically to humans, copying their gestures and mannerisms, as well as tone of voice, it's going to basically be better than most human companions. It could be any type of relationship that you want.

Humans are the types to take the lane of least resistance. And when they see the capability of AI robots, being perfect partners, why would they ever choose an actual human ever again? That's what most people will eventually choose. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just living in the past and doesn't have the vision or the udnerstanding of AI capabilities.
