I know my way around my kitchen, but to be fair I popped out of my mama and was in a kitchen watching her cook every day since then, so there's no reason not to know how to at least try things out in a reliable way. I also like chatting with other gals and swapping recipes.

But other gals aren't raised with a mom around and dad brings a variety of women around who... aren't particularly maternal... so those gals don't always have the opportunity to learn.

And last but not least are the gals who don't want to chip a nail doing any sort of home-making activity. Oh well...

My wife cooks better than most restaurant chefs. No exaggeration. She whipped up some Asian Noodles just the other night without the full ingredients and without a recipe with measurements. It tasted like we went to a high end Asian restaurant. Her regular favorites are great, so yum. And we go to restaurants about 3 or 4 times a week so I know just how good she is.

When we got married she couldn’t really cook many things. My mother told her, “if you can read, you can cook”. And it just took off from there.

Get some books and some great recipes. Many guys make pizza at home with a baking steel and a peel. Some BBQ with a Weber or a Kamadon Joe Grill or Big Green Egg grill.

Cooking can be easy and make you look amazing if you pick the right recipe such as Panang Chicken in which you buy the spices in a can, buy some coconut milk in a can from any supermarket, heat up and add vegetables and thinly sliced chicken and put over steamed rice from a good rice cooker and you made a restaurant level meal as they do it much the same and it is easy.

Why? Cooking is difficult. My dad cooks for me. Cooking good tasty food is so difficult. And it wastes money because if you make a mistake you waste ingredients.

Cooking is necessary if you are a bachelor which I was at one time. I would make pasta with a nice sauce. Every guy should know how to BBQ. I started with a weber kettle and a hibachi. I took my girlfriend now wife to a nice park with the hibachi early on in dating. I also would go to state parks and BBQ on their grills like putting a large patty of butter in foil with shrimp. Add some seasoning like pepper if you want and it is awesome and you look like a competent guy.

Making no knead bread is popular with men. I also used to bake things which is fun and relieves stress from the job. But anyway, you should be able to make a few things otherwise you come off as helpless.

You realize right, a person could make something that tastes incredible but if someone else tried making the same thing with the same recipe/ingredients, it never tastes the same as the original

If you're following a recipe and using some common sense it's rare that it would end up completely different. Obviously it may taste a little different but its not going to be drastic if you are using the same ingredients and following the method.

Im a chef, I cook a lot, generally if I've fucked something up its because I've tried to change something in the recipe and its not worked out or I've accidentally missed an ingredient.

Burnt stuff? Absolutely that's why I set timers and alarms.
