Will Sertraline Help?

So, I used to be on Sertraline (100mg) and I've been on them for about 10 years. I've gone down to 50mg every 3 days (within the past 2 months), but recently I have split with a partner- she wasn't very nice at the end, I'm having strange thoughts about her, nothing jealous- but I've been getting trapped in my thoughts. If I go back to Sertraline 50mg every day, will that stabilise my thoughts back to normal? I mean, I was on them for 10 years, so it's definitely not helping weening down.

Sertraline can absolutely help stabilize your thoughts again, especially since reducing it clearly coincided with your breakup and mental spiral. But don’t adjust it on your own. Talk to your doctor, explain the breakup, the obsessive thoughts, and the dose change.

Also, your mind looping on her is normal after a painful split, especially if things ended badly. That’s not you going crazy, that’s you grieving and detoxing from an emotional attachment, not unlike withdrawal.
