What is your ideal version of a happy ending and why?

On my deathbed surrounded by my children and (hopefully) grandchildren and a priest giving me the Last Rites.

I say that because marriage, even a good, happy, and stable one, isn't a "happy ending". It's quite literally a beginning. Every child brings his or her own sets of joys and challenges. Marriage will be full of disagreements, misunderstandings, and arguments. So the only true happy ending is seeing the fruits of your toils and labors.

Simply put, life goes on after the movie credits roll and after "The End" on the last page.

Depends on which context this happy ending is. Is it a romance comedy? Is it a holiday with someone? Is it a meal? Is it closing a sale or successfully complete a purchase?

To me, the only real happy ending at this stage of my life is the prospect of obtaining my degree in a number of years after a long time spent studying very hard and making a lot of sacrifices to achieve that goal.

Other people may have other definitions of a happy ending and I can imagine that a couple that wishes to have children would see as the birth of their first child as a happy ending.
