Well it's a curious thing...

• I'm naturally confrontational, combative and not really driven by the usual things used to manipulate people. I'm an introvert so, sex, money, drugs, fame, and the approval of other people have little effect on my internal compass. Manipulating me is kinda tough compared to the average person. It's why I was chosen to do the job I had in the military for 15 years.
• On the flip side. Manipulating other people, while not in my nature, I generally can't be bothered with it, was exactly what I was trained and expected to do on a daily basis. Read people fast. Assess their weaknesses. Use that knowledge to compromise and control them or simply limit their responses. Not nice stuff.

Does any of that spill over into my behavior to this day? Yeah, old habits are hard to break. I still over analyze people and catalog their behaviors constantly. But I try to limit using that information to the people who really deserve to be targeted for ummm... behavior modification or retribution.

Parents are the first ones to manipulate you when they menace you with possible consequences if you don't eat, if you are late, if you misbehave and that starts already at the toddler age.

That is the most important mind manipulation and conditions you to behave a certain way.

Other than being manipulated by my parents, including by my elder brother when I was at home, I try not to let myself be manipulated although it is not possible.

Governments obviously manipulate you to behave and to obey the rules and the laws.
