Wives, does your husband constantly vent about hating his job?

I hear stories about men who vent to their partners on end about their job and how much they hate it. Have you experienced this? And if so, does it drain you?

Constantly? Certainly not. Occasionally he will event about an aspect, event, or person that was annoying and related to his job. But he likes his job and never complains about the actual job. That does not bother me, we all have our grievances in life. It would be different if he was a "whiner", which I think a large amount of people today are. There are people who would complain about their job no matter how amazing it was. I don't even want to be friends with people like that, so I certainly would not have married one..

Most people I know tend to vent about their jobs. I've dated guys that didn't like their jobs. I just listened and comforted them. Eventually , they changed positions.

But did it ever get to you or make you feel drained?

Not particularly because I knew they were working towards changing their situation. It didn't take over their lives.

I can see how it can feel draining if it was non stop complaining all the time with no effort to change the situation. If all of our conversations revolved around them hating their job. That would definitely get to me at some point.

I think the importance is how the person is handling their situation. Are they sitting in self pity.

I was him though it was always to vent and it wasn't that I hated it, I hated aspects of it as I knew it could be better. She told me to quit so I did and move and it's the same everywhere.

Maybe I should find another career... bit late maybe

When we were both working we vented together. Once we were finished we went sailing with a bucket of chicken, a bottle of wine, some friends and some dooby.

I'd say we both vent to each other about work but not constantly where it would be draining on the other. For the most part, we're pretty good about not bringing work home with us and I try to remind myself that we work to live, not live to work.

even if sometimes, it was annoying... I leave it at work, never bring it home
