That's pretty much the way I look at my boundaries. Now the "why" of it may matter. Some people may not be aware of your boundaries. Some people may be clueless and need an unambiguous reminder of your boundaries once in a while. And some people may be asshole narcissists who need to be put in their place or tossed aside for good.

But at the end of the day we are all in charge of our own boundaries. People will only respect you if you do not behave like a doormat.

I think the reality often is that some people are really fucking stupid and you're giving them too much credit to think their thought process is advanced enough for whether or not boundaries or what someone else wants are even recognized.

You have to recognize and understand something exists before you can ignore it.

I think the quote is accurate. How I deal is either with a conversation or just cutting the person off altogether, especially if we had that talk and they still continue to overstep.
