How things going in Western?

How do you share the house expenses?

Bills, kitchen, rent or if one of them wants to have a car? Or someone is gonna buy a house or a land? Whose name will the ownership be registered under? And who is gonna pay? How do you manage that?

I had a mother that doesn't work ( house wife) so I don't know how things going.

So enlighten me please?

That is an easy one to answer. All the bills should be settle on the prorata of their respective income.


Example: She earns 2000 a month and he earns 4000 per month. Thus, she earns half of what he does. Combine both incomes and you get a total of 6000 a month.


Thus, her share of 2000 compared to the total of 6000 is 33.4 percent while his is 66.6 percent. All the bills should therefore be split according to that formula. That does of course not account for the free work that the one or the other does at home like cooking, cleaning or mowing the lawn or general maintenance which, if done equally should not be part of the equation.

We have a 50/50 joint account we use for rent and all other bills. Then we have our personal accounts, which we can use however we want.
