How do you and your partner split house duties?

So my boyfriend and i seem to constantly fight over house cleaning. I like it kept clean while he doesn’t really care but its getting to the point that our relationship is on the line. I honestly dont know what to do anymore or how to fairly split it, as of now i do majority of the work and get him to do dishes and garbage which he struggles to do. Right now our house is a pigs den, everything is his mess, dishes are piled up which i will also take accountability for but thats pretty much all, there is food and crumbs on the floor garbage piled up, his food and dishes all over the counters. He actually threatened to break up with me because he is tired of me asking to clean so i feel like im at my wits ends with him

He sounds completely lazy and possibly sexist expecting you to clean up after him. He doesn't want a girlfriend at that point, he wants a mother to take care of his every need. If you are already at the point of leaving him, then you might as well give him an ultimatum to start cleaning or you leave.

Aside from u taking over his end I dont see what compromise can happen when he has said he would end things showing its not somthing he is willing to chamge u guys might simply not be compatible in this area

I live alone, but I'm a clean freak so she would likely be unable to clean it to my standards, so I would do.
