Do you read old texts?

Just deleted my texts with this person who used to be my favourite person for years but now we don't talk. It was difficult because I used to read those old texts every now and then but I did what had to be done.

Just to be clear, I don't have any sort of conflict with the person I mentioned. It's actually my late best friend.

Here's an excerpt, guess if it's from the Bible or the other:

All right, I did read old SMS or any form of direct or private messages before, I think it's a common thing to do whenever there is some form of grieving process going on. It's also common to feel ashamed for it. Either by people shaming us or by our own mind. I don't bother much, as long as things get balanced.

Kamasutra by the way is a really progressive book and talks about how to live life in general which includes detailed information about sexual health and everything necessary in Sex ED. So I'm guessing the given text is from Kamasutra. I hope the sweetmeat can be honey fried chicken.

Lol yeah, I would assume they and the mughals were really conservative for those texts. So they popularized Kamasutra as this weird pervert book with weird positions.

Yep, it seems to be a trait from societies rooted in monotheism, to want full control on people's sexuality. For reasons I don't really get, since societies predating them didn't seem controlling on that aspect.

Of course. Right now, I am re-reading this text: "Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems", 3rd Edition, by William E. Boyce and Richard C. DiPrima which I purchased in Fall 1982 as the text for my Introduction to Differential Equations class.

Oh I did study that! It was my favourite favourite chapter after vector algebra. I recently finished high school and calculus was a part of my 12th grade math studies.

No, I keep them, but they are with people that I talk to regularly. If I had some that were old with someone I didn’t talk to, I’d delete them.

Deleting those texts was huge. That’s emotional detox, not drama. Old chats are like emotional lovebombing reruns: they keep you stuck in a fantasy and delay healing. You didn’t lose anything, you reclaimed your peace.

I try not to get caught up in the past, it's best to move forward, I delete old conversations with people I cut off, not cause of any hate or anger towards them but for this reason, why keep myself tied to something that no longer exists, reading old texts only postpone the time that will be necessary to properly move forward.

Not really, although if you want too I have no advice against it since y'all are still talking and chatting it up, there's many reasons to reread, to remember conversation for example, like you said, you miss them, you are waiting for them, etc, the difference is that there's no harm in it because they are still in your life, there's no need to separate yourself compared to a broken connection where you are suppose to be healing

I delete everything including text messages when a relationship ends or when I have stopped to talking to someone

Sometimes it's not worth reflecting on.

I prefer to move forward.

However , I will keep and read old texts from friends especially if the conversation was funny.

I have dined with Nostalgia, it gave courteous inner conversations. Nostalgia has been a lullaby to me, I slept well. I have selected drinks when I was sick before, based on Nostalgia's advice. Then about my death bed, I'm sure Nostalgia will kick in to comfort me.

I do. I started saving some conversations between me and my best friend. Not all of them, but the ones that were special to me. Occasionally I'll reread some. I'm glad I'm not the only one that does it. She left me too for a few months, but then came back. I thought she would never come back to me, but I still kept all the conversations that I saved.
