When and how should I tell a new guy I’m dating that I have diabetes?

It’s been about a month of me talking to a guy we just met this weekend everything went great only thing is I never really thought about bringing up the fact that I have diabetes till now and I don’t know how to go about it I’m scared that it might be a deal breaker for him we’re both 26

I would say you just tell him. What are you going to do, try to hide it all your life. If he really likes you it won’t matter. But you also have to be honest w him about potential life complications later on down the road. I’ve been w my girl for 20 years. she's diabetic. We talked about possible, long complications of what could potentially happen, especially if you don’t take care of your health, what you eat, exercise, etc. So yes over the 20 years other complications have come up, but I’m good w it. I knew what I was willing to endure then as well as now. Who knows maybe he has a loved one who’s diabetic, so maybe understands more. Bottom line you just need to be honest. I’d just say I want to be upfront. I’m not trying to push you away. I just need to let you know I have diabetes. I don’t want you to decide in 10 years that you can’t deal w this anymore. It’s not something you have to make a decision on right now, I just had to be honest w you.

No that isn’t a red flag either if he has an issue w it. Some people can’t handle certain things. He shouldn’t be made to feel like shit if he chooses not to continue this relationship. I say this because of the first person who answered, like she’s trying to guilt him into it by saying it’s a red flag if he has an issue w it. Because let’s face it, it can take a toll on both people. Moral the person who has the diabetes. After 20 years she is now on dialysis, we have appointments all the time w various doctors.

I honestly don't understand what the problem is. Diabetes is a common chronic disease. Yes, a person is addicted to medication, but that doesn't make them worse. You can make it incidental. You can be like, "excuse me, i need to run to the bathroom and take my insulin shot". Then you're not telling him but he's being informed that you are a diabetic.

That's nothing to worry about telling someone. If it were chylimidia or gonorrhea or syphilis or herpes then that's a concern and reason to be scared to tell someone but diabetes that's no big deal to tell someone
