Trending & News Is the point of a relationship to accept each other, or to push each other to grow as individuals?

I think it’s both. A relationship should be a place where you feel accepted for who you are, but also partnership where you encourage each other to grow and become better versions of yourselves. There’s a difference between pushing someone to grow and trying to change them. The right person will challenge you in a way that feels supportive. Not like you’re never enough.
Sweet and true ☺️
I think a good balance of both would make for a great relationship. None of us are perfect (especially me!!) so someone who accepts you for who you are but also acts as a life coach and a true partner is best. What have you noticed with your relationships?
@Alex-Snow epic answer - you're restoring my faith in you, Alex - of your character - blizzard lol ❄️🌨️ ahead
I’m here on GAG to decode relationships and poke your heart a little in the process 😏
Healthy relationships are both. You accept each other’s core personality, values, and flaws without trying to “fix” them. That’s emotional safety.
But you also challenge each other to grow – better habits, better communication, healing old wounds. If it’s only comfort, you stagnate. If it’s only challenge, it feels like constant criticism.
The sweet spot: “I love you as you are, and I believe you can be even more.” That’s where real falling in love and long-term attraction live.

I would LOOOOOVE to pick comfort but I know life will only HAND ME challenge.
Growing alongside each other is fine. Exploring. Deep discussions.
What isn't fine is that many women try to treat men like real life Ken dolls they can dress up and mold to a woman's vision of her perfect man. You'd be perfect if only... or... That sort of crap will trigger me and a lot of other guys to drop a woman like hot potato. Look if she doesn't like me then she chose unwisely or "settled". Go try again with the guy you really want. Your insecurities and your competitiveness with your girlfriends are not my problem. I'm not trying to reshape you into my fantasy to impress my friends. Don't pull that crap with me.
Neither. I think home should be a place to recover and enjoy the company of your love. There is enough combat at work and pushing growth sounds akin to that.
Comfort 👀🍑😈😋🆗 👌🏻 there's enough Broads out there who I don't have time for.
By comparison, many fine ladies out there 💘 for me
Comfort, duh 🤭
A girlfriend or wife who pushes, and pushes cruelly, eventually gets the divorce papers one day 📜 lol maybe nowadays email ✉️📨
I would have to say to accept each other; otherwise you are trying to change the other person.
The only person you can change is yourself!!
Both, although I don´t think ¨push¨ is the right word. Partners should encourage each other´s ambition, and celebrate the other´s success.
A relationship works best when it does both.
Challenge in the morning and comfort at night.
If that makes sense…
Both. You need the same morals and values as your partner to make it work. Then you hold each other accountable and improve from there.
I would like both. I need a reason to push myself.
Comfort. The world challenges me enough as it is.
For me its to accept each other and support eachother so we both can live happily and peacefully
accept each other.
Growth. If you want comfort, get a dog.
A combination of both
Both things are valid.
A bit of both.
I think it's both 🤷♂️
