Oh yeah.
We worked in the same office. When we first met, we didn't like each other at all. She thought I was a sloppy nerd, and I thought she was a dumb female. Then, over time, we got to know each other, and dislike turned to like to love. We got married, raised 3 kids, and amicably divorced 20+ years later.
I could see it in an arranged marriage.
Well we aren't married yet. But have been together for 8 years. When we first met she was in a long term relationship with another woman. She was obviously attractive to most people but she was just my lesbian friend and I didn't really think of her that way, her girlfriend was always very heavily exuding dude energy and clothing. There really wasn't even the tittilation that you might think happened as a dude around 2 girls together. I found her girlfriend unattractive. My girlfriend use to call me handsome and she always went out her way to be around me. When her relationship went bad it was complicated but her significant other was actually looking into gender reassignment surgery and their sex life was non existent. It made her very sad we spent more and more time together never alone but somehow we always stayed till last. At one point we were out with friends and I said its too bad that she didn't like men because I thought she was the most fun person to be around. She stopped and looked at me right in the eyes and said I like men I'm bisexual. That's it 8 years later she is the best thing that ever happened to me. Realistically after my divorce I swore I would never marry again. But she the only woman I want to be with now.
I didn't want to date my boyfriend when I first met him but it wasn't because of him it was just because I didn't want to date anyone at that time.
Of course some people just started out as friends and didn't know they wanted more until later
You just described every rom-com ever.

My aim on GAG is to decode relationships and male behavior for you, with a little flirting on the side 😏
Yes, this absolutely happens. A lot.
Many guys don’t “feel the spark” at first, then her kindness, confidence, humor, and stability slowly hit harder than any physical type.
I’ve coached men who literally said: “She wasn’t my type… now I’d die for her.”
And in my own life and work, the girl having the crush first is super common, not a red flag at all. Personality can completely rewrite attraction.
Tell me a specific story you remember of a guy saying he wasn't interested in his wife when first meeting her
