Do guys just throw around the words "I love you"?

My guy friend randomly walked up to me and gave me a big (and surprisingly intimate) bear hug and said "I love you" I was a little caught off guard and just said "Love you too..?" So my question is, do guys just say I love you whenever they feel like it and not mean anything? I know girls do that all the time, "Oh thanks! Love you!" or something, but are guys any different?

I felt hugely pressurised into saying these words, when the chemical rush in my brain told me to go for a girl! Probably, in my heart of hearts, I don't believe in "love". What does it mean? It's a vague concept anyway...

My experience is that guys are willing to do any form of acrobatics, to catch a girl or gain access to sex! Including verbal acrobatics.

no imma guy myself and I say I love you to my girl as friends all the time

in a friendly way. not intimate. its because I love them for being a great friend

or they did a great favor that's all.

i only say it when I absolutely mean it, it can be a brotherly or sisterly kind of love as well.

I'm probably the opposite of that.

I'm still a child in a way that I believe love should mean something, therefore I save it for someone special.
