Does the "make him jealous" trick really work?

I've been browsing and saw some questions like: how can I get him back? How can I make him realize he's still in love with me? ... Almost every time someone answers: make him jealous. Pretend you're with another guy, kiss someone, ...

So when you fancy a guy, or a guy just broke up with a girl and she wants him back. Does making him jealous actually work?

After reading some answers I'm glad I never tried to pull the jealousycard on an ex boyfriend ^^

It works in theory but I never found myself actually wanting a girl more out of jealousy.

When a girl I have my eye on gravitates to other guys instead of me, I don't turn on the turbo-boosters and chase her down. Not my style. We all have the freedom of choice, and if she chooses someone else that's that.

If it's a girl I broke up with trying to make me jealous by flirting with other guys and flaunting her new boyfriend in front of me, nothing could be a bigger turn-off. I want her even less, as if it were even possible! Also, she eliminates the snowball's chance in hell anything positive could happen between us in the future. You know why? I'm nobody's doormat. If you think trying to insult me is gonna win me over you're ass backwards.

Right on! In my view, guys don't have time for bullsh*t emotional games. We have better things to do than lose control of our tempers over a girl.

I think its an immature tactic to get more attention. A real man will look at that type of move as childish.

Would you expect the man you love to make you jealous knowing it hurts you? Why would he hurt you if he loves you? Why would he make you jealous if he respects you?

If jealousy happens unexpectedly (you are coming back from the bathroom and you see a girl complimenting your man because she thought he was alone) then that is understandable. It wasn't his fault. But if he is going out of his way to make you jealous then he is disrespecting you.

It works only if the jealous person doesn't realize its being done intentionally. And the reason it works is because we as human beings are naturally competitive. We're also more apt to want what we don't (or cant) have. So when something threatens to take that which is ours away from us, we naturally become defensive in protecting and/or keeping it. There are high risks involved in using this method to get a loved one back but can be very effective when done properly. Much caution needs to be used in any actions made to provoke the jealousy. Make sure it's not too hurtful, obvious and is done in a seemingly innocent manner because if any lines get crossed, it will then backfire and only make you look like the fool. Good luck.

I doubt it would work. It all comes down to the reason why the relationship stopped / never started. I can't think of a single instance where a guy would see a girl with another dude and say: wow, I must have her. If anything, she'd come off as easy or a player or just not interested in the guy she's trying to get jealous. The guy would probably move on.

The reason it works with girls is because we tend to compete with one another and we feed off other people's admiration for us. [note: I mean girls in general, not every girl out there.]

It did for me but it's difficult.. you don't want to upset him so much he wants to die but just enough to make him doubt things.

I'd never go as far as kissing someone else, it would mean we meant nothing and that's not really the point... the point is to remind him you did mean something.

Ummm well basically we were at the pub. We hadn't spoken for 7 months, on very bad terms. But I turned up wearing clothes I know he loved - mini skirt, tight white tank top, etc, and even though they were all just friends and it was a crammed pub, I was pushed really close to my guy mates, we were laughing and making a joke (pretend grinding) about it. He got really down and I felt bad. I emailed him the next day, and we've been in contact and talked things out.

It is kinda down to how secure your man he. He is quite secure but he doesn't like to be reminded that I might not be there. If I had gone further, he would have been convinced he'd lost me.

Much better. We've gone from him death glaring me and refusing to speak to me, to him talking to me every day - texting, skyping, and visiting me. He took me out to dinner the other night. Are you wanting your ex back?

I don't know. I just noticed how people who do want their ex back or their crush to make a move, get advice on how to make them jealous. So I started to wonder if that actually would work.

I think a lot to do with time. Too early and they'll think you're trying to rub their face in it. Too late and they won't care.

It is a difficult trick to do, but I was out of ideas and I knew us not speaking at all was the wrong thing. I never expected us to be like this, but I'm so much happier now we're on better terms. "What is meant to be, will be" as my friend says.

being jealous is a horrible feeling, you don't think strait and are filled with many conflicting emotions. never make a guy jealous over you because it does bad things to him in the long term.

I'm lucky enough that feeling jealous has been a rare thing and no one has done it on purpose.

does it work... for me it would make me resent them and even become cold toward them more than fall for them and if I find out they were TRYING to make me jealous I would end up hating them.

anger, rage, loneliness, sadness, and fear. pretty much emotions I want to avoid and if avoiding her will get rid of those emotions than I'll have to accept sadness and leave her alone.

Depends on the guy, and how emotionally delicate and how attatched he is to you. Some guys it will drive them crazy and they'll sh*t and come running back offering to surrender every freedom for the chance to have you back over the other guys. Other guys such as myself will feel likewise but rather than come running we'll think somthing along the lines of ''slut'' or basically some not nice name and we'll hate you for it and lose all respect we had for you and kill anychance of anything happening, finally there's the guys who couldn't careless and the only reason they would notice you kissing another guy is because they find funny.

Guys brains don't work the same way girls do... Girls have that hunger for being the center of attention and want to be the one. Guys see a girl that flirts around as easy, and those that play games as immature. So for guys, yeah we can pull you back in by ignoring you and moving on to other girls... Guys just lose respect for girls like that and wounder why they were ever with her to begin with. No it doesn't work.

It only works on some people, and usually when the person still has feelings for the girl (or guy). There are some people that will be like, "I'm so happy for you that you found someone." LOL! And then it just blows up in their face.

I used this trick when I wanted to know if he likes me back or not but if you want to use that to make him like you or get him back , I think it is a bad idea.
