A liar will tell people the false truth for several different reasons , sometimes to spare people's feelings or to get ahead in life.

A cheater would bend rules or break the laws to get their personal goals accomplished.

Let's say your friend lies to his girlfriend about the fact girls would try to approach him even though she is extremely insecure , even though he rejects them all, Is he wrong?

While I can understand what you're trying to say, in my humble opinion, I prefer the phrase "While all liars don't cheat, all cheaters do lie" simply because most enter a relationship claiming to be devoted and faithful to the person they're entering a relationship with.

When one cheats, basically, they have lied about being devoted and faithful and furthermore, many of them will lie to conceal or keep a their infidelity or infidelities concealed.

Even in terms of cheating for gain or accomplishment, they're pretty much lying to accomplish the cheat that will get them ahead.

In terms of the friend lying to his insecure girlfriend about not being approached by other girls when he really is still lying whether he pursues the advances or turns them down, he's clearly stating an untruth. Untruths equate to lies, plain and simple, even if he doesn't act upon them.

Liars and cheaters are both wrong. No matter the justicfication. People have a moral responsiblity to tell the truth and accept the truth. The "friend" is wrong for not telling the truth and his "girlfriend" is wrong for not accepting the truth.

I can't stand liars or cheaters. Both are terrible to me. Both are being disrespectful to the person you're affecting and neither are the right thing to do.

In regards to your question in your description, you said he lies about girls approaching him but then say he rejects them all like girls do actually approach him.

If he's genuinely lying about women approaching him when actually they don't and he knows his girlfriend is insecure as it is, then I would say that is wrong and cruel.

However, if he's not lying and girls genuinely approach him but he rejects them, then there's nothing wrong with telling her the truth. If anything, telling her he rejects them all because he loves her will make her feel better about herself.

Both are terrible. Cheaters are worse, but it infuriates me to no end when a guy lies to me "for my own good." What am I, a child? Or, maybe he lies for his own purposes (e.g. he doesn't love me and is using me, and knows I would leave if he fessed up that he didn't love me).

While both aren't great I prefer a liar. When people lie it generally doesn't involve a lot of people but when people cheat they are usually falsely getting ahead of a lot of people and it's frustrating.

I personal hate both
