I lost my job. Should I break up with my girlfriend?

I lost my job today because of corporate restructuring. I still haven't told my girlfriend.

I have some job interviews lined up already, so I'll probably be employed again in a week or two. I have lots of savings so money isn't a problem at all. I still feel upset though.

But should I break up with my girlfriend? She says she loves me but I know girls don't like unemployed guys. I think she might break up with me.

I'm sorry to hear about your job. But glad to hear you have interviews lined up already. I lost my job last March so I know how you're feeling. Mine was due to cut backs, but my wife found a way put all the blame on me just like everything else.

Anyway, there's absolutely no reason to break up with your girlfriend. And I don't see why she'd break up with you because of this, especially if you have interviews already set up and a decent savings. She'd be a fool if she did. A week or two of unemployment is not bad at all. I was out for almost 3 months waiting for a company to create a position and get it approved up the chain. Your girlfiend can hang on a couple weeks if all she ends up being concerned about is your job. If she truly loves you and is concerned about you then your job it's a non-issue.

Don't sweat it. Let her know and go from there.

You losing your job wasn't your fault. How can she blame you? That's no reason to end a relationship. I'm sure she'll understand if you explain the situation and good for you landing interviews. It's hard enough to get an interview, let alone a job. My advice for you with your interviews, make a promise to yourself that you are not leaving the interview without a job offer. Just be calm, confident, but not overly confident, breath, make eye contact and speak slow and clearly. It's worked for the last three jobs I've interviewed for. Good luck!

here's something for you to consider: I dated a couple. she was a stay at home mom and he worked at a low paying job. his income was cut due to a work-related injury. I made more than he did. our love wasn't based on money. we all went to a party and were sitting on the couch, him in the middle. another guy and his wife came in and started talking to us. suddenly the guy says "you must have a great job to have two women!" I laughed so hard.

if she does break up with you, tell her good riddance. you don't need someone who only wants your money.

No please dont. Your current situation is only temporary as you had already mentioned you have two interviews lined up so the chances of getting a job are fairly high. It is not like you have no intention to look for one. We are only disappointed if the guys are not motivated to improve on his situation.

What is breaking up gonna solve really? You need to talk to her and work things out. I know I wouldn't mind if my boyfriend was unemployed for a while if he was getting back on his feet the problem is when you have a deadbeat living off of you for months at a time not when he's temporarily unemployed.

If she loves you she'd accept that and stay with you. But what's the problem since you say you're sure you're going to get employed soon anyway?

Anyway, if she does break up with you, that's her loss. You'd be dodging a bullet too since it shows what kind of person she is.

I have never heard of someone thinking about breaking up with someone because they lost there job, I know I would have just asked my partner if they were OK it they lost there job and tell them not to worry something else would come along.
