He stopped calling me babe?

Me and my boyfriend have been together for a little over four months now. I am his first girlfriend and he's always been shy, quiet and just prefers to be the listener, instead of the talker. Anyway, is it weird that he has stopped calling me babe? He's called me babe and never ever uses my name whenever we text. About a month ago, I may have scared him into thinking I was going to dump him but it was all a miscommunication and ever since then, he's opened up a lot more and gotten a lot more comfortable with me. Maybe I am just over thinking. I don't know. If a guy stops calling you babe and starts using your name, is there any reason to worry? He's called me babe ever since we started dating and has never once texted me and called me my name. When we're together face to face, he has never called me babe but calls me by my name.

He's always called me by my name when we're in person and always called me babe through text.

Yes, nicknames are cool. But calling you by your name is much more personal a connection. Maybe be like "Hey babe, come here for a second" next time you are together. Then he might get the hint that you still want him to call you nicknames sometimes.

If that doesn't work, flat out ask him.

I think you're over analyzing the situation. I don't think it's a big deal if he stopped calling you babe, he still obviously wants to be with you so you shouldn't worry. Maybe he just got tired of calling you babe and thought that he should call you by your name more (:

i think if a guy starts calling you by your name and he was used to calling you those lovey dovey words... he is getting over you and there is probably someone else in the picture

It sounds to me like he has two of "you" in his mind. There's the comfortable texting person, and his shy in-person person. Maybe he feels strange saying the word, "babe." He could always be scared. What happens when you DO break up with him? When he calls you affectionate words, he's opening himself up to vulnerability. Some guys are very scared about being vulnerable.

I don't know if that's a good enough reason for you to be "worried." But it definitely is something out of the ordinary, so either he's changing things up a little bit, or he has something on his mind.

I would suggest being internally cautious, but be yourself. Talk to him, see how he's doing. Gauge his interest in you, but don't make it obvious.
