My girlfriend called me "disgusting fatso," in an argument. Do you think that's how she truly feels underneath?

Me and my girlfriend had a fight she initiated, she has been very antagonistic lately.

When I wanted to give in and end it she said " I don't even know why I put up with you you disgusting fatso".

That's when I had to leave cause I was so close to crying which is pathetic I know.

Do you think this is how she truly feels and I should ask her if she wants to stop seing me?

She has a point though, I am overweight and she's very fit. But I have been from the start of our relationship and from that point I've actually been losing weight constantly.

Did she maybe not mean it?

hmmn i dnt think its as bad, sounds kinda childish actually she was just projecting her anger and said what ticks you most, but im sure deep down she loves u. disgusting and fatso are kiddy words, almost playful. i actually admire you for being the mature one and just walking away instead of dissing her back, you showed her how you're a real man who is mature. just let her be im sure she will realize what a dummy she was...overreacted. but if u guys do make up, and she does it again and constantly throws a fit over unnecessary things, i recommend you dump her and leave her. verbal abuse is not acceptable.

When girls are angry we use what hurts you the most and what will get to you. I feel her anger took over and so it was her way of hurting you only at that time. Dont think negative :) I'm pretty sure deep down she loves you but her anger got the best of her. Who knows...probably at this very moment she regrets it and is thinking she should have never said thst. I say give it time, and keep losing that weight boy! But do it for yourself rather than her. Regardless of how heated the argument, she cannot make personal attack on you.
I find it unacceptable, though sometimes when people fight they tend not to think clearly. if i truly love the other party, i wouldn't make him feel that way.
i would suggest to open up with her on this...has she apologised for saying that?

I actually can't get in touch with her, I left her a voice mail saying I was sorry for arguing and texted her to call me but I have not heard back despite the message being 'read'.

It was about me not going on vacation with her. I just can't afford it, I'm a student, but she said if I don't get the money it means I really don't want to go. If I could I would she just didn't believe me

how long have the two of u been together? if she is mature and understanding and trusting enough she would believe your words. and if she really want to go on vacation she can either ask her friends or go on her own. i dont see a need to make personal attack

If there's some truth in her outburst she probably meant it. Doesn't mean she doesn't like you though. Best thing to do is ask her about how she feels.
Being "fit" she most likely wants a healthier young man. It is also important to clarify whether the relationship is only existing because.she feels sorry for you. Ask her about it and make sure what she. says is honest.

I don't think it's how she really feels. I think it may be an exaggeration of her real feelings. Believe it or not, but it can be stressful to date someone who's at a different fitness level as you.
