Realizing we are not our own God take a lot more strength than thinking we are as strong as it gets. Ask God to show you the truth and seek the truth about Him and Jesus and I pray you will and can see His loving truth. May He bless you with His truth, peace, love and joy in His Son Jesus Christ!
Yeah, owning slaves and permitting rape is definitely loving. I love the child sacrifice part too, so beautiful how a man would give his own child to appease God. The story of Job is one of my favorites though, how God willingly permits innocent Job's innocent family to be slaughtered to test Job on his faith, how much more loving can you get?
@devilman666 I think it’s extremely heartwarming how god blames his own creations for being pieces of shit when god is supposedly all knowing and purposeful ☺️
@Ellie-V I agree. Makes imperfect beings, sets a task he knows they will fail so he can be angry at them, blames them for imperfections and failing the task he knew they would fail. Sets about on a couple thousand years of rage, then sends himself in human form to die in a ritual so that we can be saved from his endless anger through his endless mercy. Perfect plan so far.
GOD is perfect and sent HIS only perfect SON JESUS CHRIST to die for us, because we chose and choose sin in our free will, the free will HE gives us so we can choose to believe in HIM with love, joy and peace given by HIM. Praying all who may know this and HIS true love! Thanks HOLY FATHER GOD, we love YOU!
So... your god basically seeks validation through imperfect people he created knowing a lot of them are not going to give him the attention he wants... and he’s going to punish those for reaching his low expectations because he’s butthurt that the love of his precious, perfect angels aren’t enough to keep him company?

I’ve always seen it as a crutch for those to weak or naive to deal with the realities of life. It’s an easy answer for those that can’t deal with the fact that life is tough and sometimes shit just happens
Not as much the case for those born and raised religious, but any of the “born again” types I’ve known were fairly low IQ and had some crippling emotional traumas at some point in their past.

It certainly can, especially those who find fear at the thought of eternal Oblivion, where our actions, beliefs and feelings ultimately mean nothing after we die, or those who cannot or will not be educated on how the world actually works and seek to find the easy answer, god did it. It can also be used as a method of social control, as seen with the Borgia pope.
Does it always? Of course not, but that is more the exception than the rule.
Since what I wanted to write here would really long and probably not read by many people, I'm just gonna quote Rust from True detective.
"Transference of fear and self-loathing to an authoritarian vessel. It's catharsis. He absorbs their dread with his narrative. Because of this he's effective at proportion to the amount of certainty he can project. Religion is a language virus the rewrites pathways in the brain. Dulls critical thinking."

There are many theories about religion. There are various types of religions. Not all are seeking new converts, some are just traditional to certain people's. Religion is a broad church no pun intended.
So the answer is SOME religions pray on the weak but not all.
This makes me think about how can I prepare my children to not fall prey of religion if they ever reach a weak moment in their lives. And I have no solution for this problem.
As a whole, we (humanity) need to either accept that there is much more to this World/Life and there is something (higher power). Or we neee to just accept we are garbage animals who shouldn’t exist. We need to make a decision. But judging how most of the human population act, I think they’re content with being animals.
Yes and no. Yes, you can influence kids because they are kids. The thing is its their kids. You should have your own and do whatever you want with them. Should religious people not raise their kids and give them to you instead?
Aren't you preying on the weak by telling your kids its ok to go have tons of random sex and do drugs? That's what most non religious people do and their atheist parents are like yay im so proud of you. Smh.
? Non religious people don't tell their kids to do that just because they don't believe in a god and religious people can do that even though they believe in a god. In that case it's really more about the person themselves and not whatever they believe in
@Randomawkwardness i haven't heard of too many religious kids becoming hoes and i haven't heard of too many atheists waiting for marriage. But im sure its happened both ways before, its just not typical.
"Religion is the opium of the people." -- Karl Marx Yes, religion is a manipulative ploy to control people and consume their hard-earned money. Much like opiate dealers, it matters not what you think... you need your opium and they need your money.
It's not only poverty that makes many turn to religion. Diseases, disabilities, mental problems, existential crisis and a harsh life in general speaking can also make people covert.
Some religions in fact most if they threatenen you by saying if you don’t be part of there religion you get tourchered then that’s bad and they prey on the weak

Depends on the religion. Not all religions teach people to be sheeple and pray to a fictitious supernatural being. Some teach self-reliance, self-discipline, self-control, respect and giving back to the community.

I was once a devout Christian. Best decision I ever made was abandoning that whole thing completely.
When we all have to answer to God, I pray we all will seek Him!

Gay.
God is love!
Your god is a narcissistic attention whore 😏

I do agree with that position. Religion does prey upon the vulnerable. She articulates it rather well.

For me, unusually, a short answer: You mean cowards like the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr? Would that we had more weaklings like him.
Seriously, I thought stereotyping was a bad thing in this enlightened age.

Yes, religion is a manipulative ploy to control people and consume their hard-earned money. Much like opiate dealers, it matters not what you think... you need your opium and they need your money.
Religion was made to prey upon people, or should I say "Organised Religion".
i wouldn't say on the "weak" but definitely on the stupid xD i mean you could frame stupidty as a weakness...
the cruel thing about it is, that it gives you some short term soothing effect but long term disables you from dealing with reality.
There is a difference between Religion (human made) and Spirituality. Jesus Christ is a true relationship and life changing.
What's the difference? Do you have evidence christianity is not human made?
The poorer the region, the more religious it often is
It's not only poverty that makes many turn to religion. Diseases, disabilities, mental problems, existential crisis and a harsh life in general speaking can also make people covert.
I'd say it prays on people who don't know much of science.
Certainly. Which is why religion likes to weed it's way into schools. It's far easier to fool a child than an educated adult.
Some religions in fact most if they threatenen you by saying if you don’t be part of there religion you get tourchered then that’s bad and they prey on the weak
If there was a all powerful being would they really want the praise of us mere mortals?
I've forced the ants in my backyard to build a temple in my honor. It was gratifying.
All hail our Lord Dionigi. May he forever leave sugary treats in the rubbish bin.
I should start to add some ant poison in those treats, just to spice things up.
You are the creator and the destroyer. May your great mercy spare them from a kettle of boiling water on their nest
Ouch! I'm not a sadist!
Are you trying to corrupt my religion?
Depends on the religion. Not all religions teach people to be sheeple and pray to a fictitious supernatural being. Some teach self-reliance, self-discipline, self-control, respect and giving back to the community.
Actually, it depends on the person and not the religion.
@Lovi87 Just responding to the original question.
