No, it's not. Religious reasoning does not excuse or justify bigotry. To use your religious beliefs to do that to the LGBTQ community is Christian and Catholic hypocrisy and arrogance.

How is it bigotry to not want to bake a cake? Imagine a Jewish or Muslim baker being forced to bake a pork pie and handle pig flesh. Is that ok with you? Religious people should be able to refuse to do something that is against their beliefs.

It's bigotry because you are discriminating against something for what they are, which in this case is gay. Not wanting to handle pork related food is not disrespectful to meat eaters. You can refuse, but depending on who and why is what makes it bigoted.

Forcing a babrber to cut women's hair because it's discriminatory towards women for him to only cut men's hair. You okay with that too?
Your argument leads to all kinds of silly things. Isn't it better to let the man say "no thanks, I don't want to bake a cake for your wedding"? Is that so bad? Will it cause the poor gay couple to have no where to turn for a cake? lol... just leave the Christian businessman alone and let him bake or not bake for whoever he wants. The other way leads to a bunch of laws and forcing people to do what they don't want to do. How is that good? You sure showed that poor old man! Let's close his business and put him in jail or fine him into bankruptcy! Then we will feel pure and righteous! ... it's sad. Be better.

It is OK to refuse to serve anyone. No one has the right to be served by anyone else. Restaurants can refuse to serve Trump supporters. Cake shops can refuse to serve gay couples.

@DaMack999 What grounds do you need? Servicing someone at your business is not a legal battle. You do not have to prove to a jury why you should or should not serve someone. Businesses are private entities. Even GAG as a forum owes us as users nothing. We can be banned at any time for any reason. They do not need grounds. Why should anyone else?

@DaMack999 Responsibility of what? When you run a business, your only responsibility is to make money. If discrimination causes you to lose money, that's something to consider, but if it doesn't then it's not a concern at all.

Define "okay". Is it shitty? Yes. Is it retrogressive? Yes. Should it be illegal? No. We should be allowed to be shitty and retrogressive if shitty and retrogressive is what we want.

No because their religion is supposed to say to treat others with kindness.

So not serving them out of personal prejudice is actually violating their own religion.

I don't have an opinion, but a question : if you are living in a land of same sex and you are heterosexual and you are denied to be served, what would be your reaction and thought?

Instead of having your own opinion, place yourself in the situation.

It's religious freedom. And chikfila doesn't deny service to same sex couples so that's an odd image to use. If you force someone to do what is against their conscience, how is that freedom?

When people insist that the Bible is the word of God, we should ignore them and exclude them from public discourse. It's a free country, and people have a right to their superstitions in the privacy of their own homes. But no one is required to take them seriously in a public forum.

      Reply

Calling something a superstition doesn't mean it is. If you can't verify God is not in existence, then you can't say He doesn't exist or you'd be dishonest in saying that since you can't know it.

They can do that to be spiteful but God's Word is what matters in the end. You will be judged by it regardless if you claim He exists or not. Claiming you're atheist, doesn't make it true. God already says there is no such thing as an atheist.

hey finally you are right. Do you believe in Leprechauns? Leprechauns even have a popular brand of breakfast cereal. But that does not mean that Leprechauns exist. We know that Leprechauns are imaginary. Why? Because there is no evidence for their existence. If you do not believe in Leprechauns, what are you? Are you an aleprechaunist? no. You are normal. people who do not believe in God are the same as people who do not believe in Leprechauns. They are rational When a person refuses to believe in a god that person is completely normal. In just the same way that we don't use the word aleprechaunist to describe the people who do not believe in Leprechauns, we should not need the word atheist. We should be able to say, "I am a normal person" and be done with it.

It's not the law in the US. Private business owners cannot simply refuse service because of race, religion, national origin, etc.

Many states also forbid discrimination because of sexual orientation. This has not yet been tested in the Supreme Court. But the locales whare a discriminating business can continue to get customers is shrinking.

You don't even know what that means.
Religious people have the right to serve who they want, queers have the same freedom. The only difference is, that there are more religious people than queers, so they'll lose business.

I have a strange feeling that if you were refused service simply because of who you are you wouldn't just shrug your shoulders and say "well they have a right to do that"

There are millions of restaurants to choose from. Unlike fags, I'm not a sensitive person. I wouldn't cry "straightphobia" when I wouldn't get service, just take my money elsewhere.

Bahahhahahaha we all know you're the kind of guy that points his finger and everyone and calls them snowflakes, when in reality you're a closeted snowflake yourself.

lol but it's still their right. When Sarah Huckabee Sanders was denied service at a restaurant, as much as I support the majority of the Trump Administration, I sided with the restaurant owner. He still reserves the right to make the decision. Whether it's the smart decision, as you point out, is a different story.
