no im an atheist, but i don't think civilization can survive as atheist anymore and it needs religion to keep people happy or they will just invent a new potentially more dangerous religion and rally around that (left wingers, this is you and your genderism, neo marxism, and critical race theory)
christianity and judaism aren't perfect but they make people happy and live for a better world and work towards bigger goals than just immediate happiness. it also promotes the production of children which is the production of soldiers workers and taxpayers of tomorrow making it an inherently strong idea set for a successful society.
so i think ill send my kids to church
Being "religious" means different things to different people.
1. I am a Christian.
2. I am actively involved in my church. I am the president of the congregation and I have sang in my church choir for 20 years.
3. I don't walk around town looking for other people to condemn or criticize.
4. I am willing to discuss religion and Christianity with anyone who wants to discuss it, but I am not out ringing door bells on Saturday mornings or at any other time.
Being religious only has a single meaning, and that is to believe in a or several Gods, depending on what the religion itself espouses.
@Peuples_Francs No, as the word is commonly used, it has several meanings. Perhaps YOU have a single definition of the word, but others do not conform to your standards.
Not a single dictionary I've searched for has a different definition of religious, from Merriam-Webster all the way to the Cambridge dictionary, the definition remains the same. Maybe you should explain for me, and whoever else stumbles upon your comment, what else the term "religious" means, if not for the belief of deities.
@Peuples_Francs For SOME people, a "religious" person is one who
1. is a fanatical zealot about their beliefs.
2. is very judgmental and condemns others who have divergent beliefs.
3. is one who is always trying to convince others to join their faith.
4. is one who wants to impose their morality upon others
5. is one who is hypocritical about their beliefs; actions don't match their words.
Right. "Some" people, like you, who change the definition of established words. Bread will always be a food item, not an object with supports for someone to sit on, and religion will always remain the belief in deities. I see now that there was no point in asking my question.
@Peuples_Francs You are one of THOSE people! Goodbye.
No. My parents rarely took me to church and basically left me to my own devices to form my own opinion. The older I got, the more I realized that I didn't believe in a god.
Nope, absolutely not. Although, I do respect someone who is.
My parents are very religious though

Doesn't matter if you are religious or not. As long as you are working towards a better society, helping the needy and living a fulfilled life any or none will work.
I am an observant, believing Christian but don't beat the drum over peoples' heads.
So horible to see so many unreligios people in this world.
